We recently connected with Ashley Brissette and have shared our conversation below.
Ashley, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
There are a TON of ups and downs in this business. Learning how to navigate unexpected issues in transactions or with clients is essential. Also being able to lean on other agents and teammates for advice is very helpful.
I was working with first time homebuyers and after we started touring homes and submitting offers that kept getting rejected, they were losing hope. They felt defeated and were questioning if they should continue to rent and try and buy at another time. We ended up putting our search on pause and while we took that break, I started calling for sale by owner homes. I found a property that checked almost all of their boxes and I called my clients right away. We were able to get in to see the property quickly and by that evening, we had submitted an offer. After a bit of negotiating with the home owner, I was able to get my clients under contract! There were a few obstacles during the transaction, but we made it to the finish line and they couldn’t have been happier to get the keys to their new home. It takes patience, especially in this market, but achieving home ownership is doable while working with a knowledgable realtor. There are many ways to make offers stand out to be competitive and having that guidance from a real estate professional only makes the goal of homeownership that much more achievable. It is very important to me to make the home buying or selling process as seamless as possible!
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers?
I had always had an interest in real estate, but fell into the corporate world after graduating college like many others. I was extremely unhappy working a 9-5 job and always felt that I could be doing something more with my skills and time. I finally decided to take the leap and sign up for classes to get my real estate license. The next several months were spent studying all day to prepare for the exams. It was extremely intimidating at first jumping into a whole new career, but I was lucky enough to have a great company to work for and mentors to lean on. I think the most exciting aspect of this job is getting to assist others on one of the most important purchases of their lives. Listening to their wants and needs and finding that perfect fit is something I take very seriously.
Being a real estate agent in this volatile market has had its challenges, but I am always thinking of ways to go above and beyond for my clients. I bring a fresh perspective to the real estate market offering new ideas, marketing strategies, and analysis of specific areas. I think what sets me apart from others in this business is my reliability and responsiveness. I take pride in the fact that I am available for my clients whenever they need me and I always want to make sure they are being taken care of in a timely manner. I always have my clients best interests at heart and want to provide advice and educate my clients throughout the whole buying and/or selling process.
We’d love to hear about how you keep in touch with clients.
It is extremely important in this business to keep in touch with past clients. This business is highly based on referrals and word of mouth so having an outstanding reputation will only help previous clients reach out for repeat business.
When a past client reaches out again, it means they were satisfied with my previous service, which is what I strive for.
Whether it be providing vendor recommendations, assisting with the moving process, reaching out periodically to check in on their family, or following up with a home anniversary gift, it’s the small things that make a huge difference.
Not only am I there every step of the way through the home buying or selling process, I am continuously checking in after the transaction to ensure they are doing well.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Not only is it important to me that my clients are satisfied with my services, it is just as important that other real estate professionals that I work with are just as satisfied. I work with a lot of different parties in a single transaction and there are a lot of moving parts, which is why it is crucial that all parties work together well to get to the end of the transaction for our clients. Being communicative, following ethical guidelines in this business, and cheering others on are just some of the ways that I have been able to build a reputation in this industry.
