We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Bowden a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ashley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I first knew I wanted to pursue the path of journalism and hosting when I was willing to spend countless hours perfecting my craft. Working on training for hours and spending money on additional training without blinking an eye, In moments like those, I knew I was locked in on this path and genuinely enjoying the journey.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am a Journalist and Host. My recent work that I’m most proud and excited about is being a current and regular Guest Host for TMZ Live where I provide commentary for the latest pop culture trending topics. I also cover red carpets regularly for popular television shows, films, fashion shows, and have interviewed a wide variety of talented artists such as: Babyface, Jermaine Dupree, Jimmy Jam, Chuck Dee, Spice, Kelly Price, Joseph Sikoa, and more. I also conduct one on one in-studio interviews with actors and musicians. Some of my most notable interviews were with R&B musician Jon B., BETs Sistas star Novi Brown, Miss USA 2023 winner Noelia Voight, and more.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
There’s quite a few things that I’ve had to unlearn on my journey. The one lesson that stands out to me the most is having an expectation of being at a certain place at a specific age or time in life. I’ve learned to embrace and enjoy where I’am in my journey. I’ve adopted an unwavering confidence that my path is divinely guided and I’m always exactly where I’m supposed to be, and if for any reason I’m not, I’ll be guided back to the proper path. When you truly believe this, it allows you to ease and settle into your journey and enjoy the ride.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
Honestly, my entire journey is a story of resilience. All of our journeys are a story of resilience. None of us are immune from experiencing, fear, setbacks, or disappointing moments in life, and the fact that we’re still here and moving forward despite taking losses is a testament of the resilience and strength that each one of us possess.
