We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Borromeo. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Hi Ashley, thanks for joining us today. Alright, so you had your idea and then what happened? Can you walk us through the story of how you went from just an idea to executing on the idea
I’m excited to share how I turned my passion for dance into an online business.
It all started when I saw a Facebook ad for a free five-day event called Time to Thrive, hosted by Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins. As a homeschooling mom, I loved that I could invest in myself without disrupting our schedule.
Listening to inspiring speakers made me realize that I could do more. I took a leap of faith and created my first program, “Tap Into Family Time.” It was designed for families and featured six easy-to-follow video modules paired with fun, engaging activities. Seeing people sign up confirmed that my idea had real potential.
The journey wasn’t perfect—there were plenty of challenges—but I kept learning and refining my approach. I followed the advice of mentors, built my brand on social media, and connected with a community that shared my passion.
The biggest lesson? An idea only becomes real when you take action, learn along the way, and stay true to what you love.
Ashley, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m Ashley Borromeo—I’m a dance educator, coach, homeschool mom and entrepreneur who loves helping people rediscover the joy of movement and embrace their own unique “DANCE Through Life!”
I fell in love with dance as a child, and after owning and teaching in traditional studios for over 20 years, becoming a homeschooling mom made me crave more flexibility. I created TapFitFam—an online platform where I blend movement and mindset to help adults find the fun and freedom of dance.

Empowerment & Life Coaching:

What Sets Me Apart
I don’t just teach dance steps—I help you transform how you see yourself. My approach is centered on my DANCE Framework:
•Decide what you truly want.
• Take Aligned action that reflects your values.
•Notice what feels right and what needs to change.
•Create with creativity instead of competition.
• Expand your Energ
Plus, I’ve built a warm, supportive community where everyone feels like they belong.
What I’m Most Proud Of
I’m proud of creating a business that stays true to my values—even while juggling family life and personal challenges. Watching my community light up with confidence and joy through movement is what makes it all worthwhile.
What I Want You to Know
You don’t have to be a seasoned dancer to experience the joy of movement. My programs are designed for all levels, showing that dance isn’t just exercise—it’s a way to shift your mindset and transform your life.
Even just dancing to one song a day can make a big difference. Research shows that dancing releases endorphins—the brain’s natural feel-good chemicals—boosting your mood, energy, and confidence. It doesn’t have to be technical; simply moving your body to a beat or lyrics you enjoy can help reduce stress and increase mental clarity. By dancing daily, you create the energy you crave while giving yourself a mini escape into a world of rhythm and joy.
The best time to start is right now, and I’m here to support you every step of the way if you want more health and happiness in your life.
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
Building My Audience on Social Media: The Messy, Imperfect Start
The way I built my social media presence is the same way I started my first program—I just started. Messy, imperfect, figuring it out as I went. I tried not to overthink it, I just knew I needed a name, something broad enough to grow with me because I wasn’t entirely sure which direction my business would take.
That’s how TapFitFam was born. Tap dance is one of my strengths, fitness is something I love, and family is at the core of everything I do. I wasn’t sure at the time if I would focus on homeschooling content, creative activities for kids, or family bonding, but I chose a name that could encompass all of it and evolve as I did. The first step? Making sure the name was available on Instagram and Facebook. Once I saw it was open, I grabbed it. I didn’t do an in-depth search, didn’t overanalyze—I just moved forward.
From there, I started posting. It was awkward, inconsistent at times, and even slightly embarrassing at first. But I kept going. The reality is, when you’re starting from zero, the algorithm doesn’t know who you are, and no one is paying attention yet. That’s the hard part—you have to be willing to create for at least 30 to 45 days without focusing on the numbers. No validation, no immediate success, just effort and consistency.
My Advice for Building Your Social Media Presence
Secure Your Name Early:
Grab your business name (if you’re not using your personal name) across platforms before overthinking it. A flexible name lets you evolve over time.
Post Consistently:
Your early posts might feel uncomfortable, but they’re essential for growth. Practice makes progress.
Ignore Vanity Metrics:
Don’t compare yourself to others with more followers or likes. Focus on your message and your journey.
Use Social Media as a Business Tool:
t’s a space to learn how to communicate what you do and why it matters—not a popularity contest. People are looking for what you have to offer, help them.
Create More Than You Consume:
While it’s good to learn from others, the only way to build your presence is to consistently create and share your own content.
Embrace Imperfection:
Like in dance, you learn by stepping onto the floor. Don’t wait for perfection—just take the next step.
Social media for me was never about instant success. It was about putting myself out there, connecting with people, and slowly building a community that understands my passion and purpose.
If you’re just starting out, my best advice is simple: Create. Share. Repeat. Your journey may be imperfect at first, but every step moves you closer to the community and success you’re aiming for. Keep dancing through the process!
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
A moment from my journey that truly tested—and ultimately affirmed—my resilience.
In July last year, I was deep into planning one of the biggest three-day events I had ever hosted. I had invested weeks of energy and passion into creating an experience I believed would make a real impact on my audience.
Then, on the Friday before the event, I received devastating news: my brother had passed away. In that moment, everything felt overwhelming. I was gripped by grief, and the thought of canceling the event seemed like the obvious choice.
I spent the weekend in an emotional whirlwind—coordinating with family, processing loss, and questioning how I could possibly show up for others with the energy they deserved from me.
Over the weekend, something shifted. I realized this was more than just a moment of tragedy—it was a test of my commitment. Life doesn’t pause for our personal challenges, and if I let this loss stop me, I’d be retreating rather than transforming into something meaningful.
I had a heartfelt conversation with my mom, and together, we shifted our focus from the sorrow to the possibility of turning pain into purpose. I chose to honor both my family and my mission by showing up for my event. When I did, I brought every ounce of love, energy, and presence into those three days. The experience wasn’t just about teaching—it was about channeling my emotions to serve others with authenticity.
That moment taught me that resilience isn’t about ignoring pain; it’s about using it as fuel to deepen our commitment. Life will always throw challenges our way, often at our most vulnerable times. And I learned that rising up—despite the pain—defines who we are.
I continue to carry that lesson with me every day, choosing to rise, to move forward, and to help others do the same.
