We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashley Blount a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ashley thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. What do you think it takes to be successful?
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I love planning, hosting and creating experiences. A-Signature is a professional and diverse specialty company that manages the development of projects, plans and coordinates weddings & events and organizes local & abroad travel. I got into this business by simply using my gifts, and talents in creating experiences for the people I love and decided to move forward in creating a business that produced profit. I love people and enjoy sharing in their special moments. I want my clients to receive the energy that I would want for myself, and my goal is to always provide exceptional customer service, timely deliverables, kindness, and offer innovative ideas that will create a satisfying experience. I am most proud of my relationships with my clients; I want them to feel at ease, feel loved and know that they have a trusted team in their corner who will invigorate their vision. When my clients are completely satisfied, it is a reminder that A-Signature is my true purpose and passion.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I am a true procrastinator. I take my time in completing particular tasks because I know that the job will eventually get done! Thankfully my procrastination is not a reflection of self-doubt, or fear, rather it is a reflection of when I have the uncommon availability to rest and relax, I fully lean into both restING and relaxING, which become a priority more than tasks that need to be completed. Procrastination is absolutely a trait that I am in the process of unlearning. After speaking with my life coach, there are steps that can be taken to overcome procrastination. In an article that she shared, it stated, “action leads to motivation; motivation does not lead to action.” The concept is valid, and each day I seek to move in a positive, constructive, action-oriented direction because I am 100% motivated once after I take the necessary actions. Furthermore, I fully embrace my self-care time without judgment and know that when it is time to hit the entrepreneurial ground running, my energy is replenished, and then, I am committed and focused in completing all things A-Signature!
Can you tell us about a time you’ve had to pivot?
I am sure the whole world had to shift during (and after) the pandemic and A-Signature was not exempt. Between 2018 and 2020 I was learning much about my business, and started to secure opportunities; however, I had to shift my mindset and business goals during 2020. At this time, one of my best friends got engaged and she asked me to be her wedding planner. My first wedding client! I was fully committed, and we started planning her 2021 wedding. This was the best time for A-Signature because I was able to learn so much more about planning weddings due to the time I had to dive into more research, connect with professionals, and truly devote time to my friend’s wedding planning process. This wedding set the standard for A-Signature and truly allowed me to walk in my purpose. It was an exciting experience and I never looked back!
