We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashley Ayanna . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashley below.
Ashley, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
I love helping to make women feel and look beautiful. My over all mission is to provide a great experience for each and every client. In my beauty studio I’ve created a comfortable environment for my clients. My studio is always clean, smells great, music is playing, and it’s a space where you can relax. My clients and I have a great time when they’re with me. Either we’re learning new things, laughing so hard we both have tears in our eyes, relating to one another, giving reviews about tv shows, talking about personal things, sometimes they’re so relaxed they fall asleep, and the list goes on. With every client we don’t talk because their time with me is the most relaxing part of their day. I’m glad I’m able to provide a safe place for them to relax, talk, and/or vent. With having this great experience and then seeing their happy reactions to their makeup let’s me know I did my job well. I love hyping my clients up and letting them know they look beautiful.

Ashley, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Ashley Ayanna and I’m a makeup artist and licensed esthetician out of Memphis, TN. I provide makeup, brow tint, and brow lamination services. When I was in college I taught myself how to do my own makeup and I was really good at it. My sister Patrice actually gave me the idea to start doing it on other people and I did. From there my passion grew and I went to Goulds Academy to get my esthetics license. I worked at the MAC counter for awhile as a makeup artist. I got a lot of experience working there. I got my own studio and went full time in April 2021. I’ve been doing makeup now since December 2018. I absolutely love what I do and I’m always thinking of ways I can improve my craft and my client experience. Having a business is not easy and it takes a lot of work, patience, and discipline. I appreciate my clients for coming to me and letting me glam them up for their special events, photoshoots, and I think most importantly their wedding days. Weddings are a big deal and choosing me to be apart of that day is so special. I’m not where I want to be but I’m proud of myself for getting this far. I take pride in my craft, customer experience, and my business as a whole. I look forward to all new clients and I absolutely love when they return.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
Other than referrals my best source has been social media. I used to not post as much because I felt it wasn’t helping. People always say be consistent, post everyday, and make sure you use hashtags. When I get new clients now I always ask them how did they find out about me. Majority of the time they say from hashtags. With that being said post about your business regularly regardless of how many followers or likes you get because people still see your work.

What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
I think my reputation was built off of my personality, artistry, customer service, and being professional. Some of my top compliments are on my personality, how they loved the service they got, my professionalism, how my website is nice and easy to use, and my environment. When you give a customer a good experience they’re more than likely going to tell someone else about you. I take pride in providing that experience because I love getting the positive feedback.
