Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashley And Michelle. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashley and Michelle, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
One young client initially struggled with confidence in social settings, often feeling frustrated when his caregivers and peers could not understand his communication or meet his needs. This challenge led to reluctance in participating in group activities, following instructions, or engaging with peers.
After several weeks of consistent social skills therapy, this client experienced a remarkable transformation. He now communicates effectively, expressing his wants and needs to both adults and peers while confidently self-advocating. He enters sessions with enthusiasm, greeting peers and adults with ease.
This newfound confidence has not only strengthened his relationships within the clinical setting but has also positively impacted his interactions with caregivers and peers outside of therapy. Today, he eagerly participates in group activities, follows instructions, and thrives with positive reinforcement.
His journey exemplifies the meaningful impact of our services, showcasing how targeted therapy can significantly improve quality of life. At the heart of our mission is the commitment to creating lasting, positive change for the individuals and families we serve.
Ashley and Michelle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The two of us met as colleagues and quickly developed a friendship based on our shared passion for social skills and desire to make a meaningful impact. Frustrated by the lack of resources and barriers to accessing services, such as long waitlists and the need for formal diagnoses, we recognized the substantial need for social skills support in both neurodivergent and neurotypical communities. This led us to establish Social Behavior Co., a safe, inclusive environment where individuals can learn essential social skills to navigate life successfully.
As first-time business owners, we’ve faced challenges like contract delays, marketing limitations, and forming appropriate social skills groups, but each hurdle has strengthened our collaboration and growth. At Social Behavior Co., we provide center-based social skills therapy for children, teens, and adults, helping clients reach their full potential through evidence-based, person-centered interventions. We take pride in the strong rapport we build with clients and caregivers and in witnessing their progress and transformation. As a privately owned company, we can often offer almost immediate access to services when we feel they can benefit the client. With two board-certified professionals facilitating group sessions, we strive to foster social connections, promote positive behavior change, and enhance the quality of life for our clients and their families.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
One year ago, we embarked on our journey to provide meaningful services to our community. Like any new venture, the path was not without its challenges. At times, we faced fluctuating enrollment, including periods of stagnation where our client numbers remained unchanged for months.
Balancing our professional goals with personal commitments further tested our resilience. Yet, through it all, we remained steadfast. We pushed forward, extending our reach by sharing our services, presenting at schools, and engaging with community groups.
Growth, we’ve learned, is rarely a straight line. It’s a dynamic process marked by progress and setbacks. However, we’ve also learned the value of pausing to reflect on our achievements. In doing so, we’re reminded of how far we’ve come and how much we’ve accomplished together.
As we celebrate this milestone, we remain committed to our mission and energized by the impact we’ve made. Here’s to continued growth, service, and success in the year ahead!
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
The most effective strategies for growing our clientele have been a combination of proactive outreach, targeted advertising, and word-of-mouth referrals. We consistently promote our services by presenting at schools and engaging with community groups. To enhance our visibility, we invested in local business advertising and carefully curated our social media content to showcase our credibility and expertise. Additionally, word-of-mouth referrals from the families we currently work with continue to be one of our strongest sources of new clients.
