Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashleigh Olson. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
Ashleigh, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Before we get into specifics, let’s talk about success more generally. What do you think it takes to be successful?
When it comes to success, I personally don’t measure that in dollar signs. I think there is a difference between feeling successful and material wealth. Success isn’t a one-size-fits-all concept. Some people chase money and status, but for me it’s about love, security, and emotional well-being. It isn’t just about booking the most weddings or making the most money, it’s about capturing moments that matter, creating experiences that leave people feeling seen and celebrated, and finding joy in my art.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ashleigh, and I’m a wedding photographer in Massachusetts. I started my business about 10 years ago, mainly as a hobby and before I had kids. Once I became a mother, the passion for photography became more important than ever. Weddings quickly became my favorite. I love the fact that I am a big part of their day, and get to document these memories that they will cherish for the rest of their lives. I’m not just a photographer to them, I become a friend, a therapist, a hype girl and I strive to be all of those things at once. Providing that service to my clients makes them feel comfortable in front of the camera.
What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
My best strategy for growing my clientele has been word of mouth. There is no better compliment than your name being given to someone else who ends up hiring you.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist, especially in photography, is the ability to capture and create something meaningful that resonates with others. It’s knowing that your work isn’t just a product; it’s a piece of someone’s story, a frozen moment in time that they’ll cherish forever.
