We were lucky to catch up with Ashleigh Ann Wood recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ashleigh Ann , thanks for joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
I’m an actress and an acting coach with a mission to do inspiring films and inspire the next generation of actors. I believe we are in a pivotal point in history and we should be choosing to bring love and light to this world in any way we can. As artists we can use our voices to better this world and that’s what I aim to do. Right now I’m choosing projects that have positive messages and training the younger actors to do the same. This s a meaningful mission to me because this is an opportunity for me to Change The World for the better.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I grew up in Toronto Canada where I started acting and modeling at a young age. I worked with many well known names and being on set was like home to me. I would gather all the kids from the neighborhood and put on plays. From the age of 5 years old I wanted to be an actress with a Voice that could Change The World. I moved to Orlando Fl. at the age of eight years old. I did many national commercials as well as worked on Disney and Nickelodeon shows. At 17 I graduated from High-school and decided I would move to L.A. That was a blast! My first few weeks there I booked an amazing role on the show “Buffy” and went on to work with some truly incredible people there. I did guest starring roles on shows such as “CSI Miami” “Lost” “ER” and many more. The best time I had was working on several episodes of a Warner Brothers show called “Like Family” being on the Warner Brothers lot for months was such a beautiful experience and the cast and crew where incredible to work with. I am currently in Orlando Florida right now working on projects that can enlighten this world with positive messages. I am also training other actors which I find super rewarding in many ways. I can teach others all the right things from the beginning in order for them to be successful both in the arts and business. I’ve learned a lot on my journey and feel like knowledge is power. I’m training all my clients and giving them ALL of the knowledge I learned along the way.
Have you ever had to pivot?
About ten years ago I found my Faith again and began to see what really matters in this world. Moments, Family, Friends and what you do to impact this world in a positive way. I had to pivot my entire look on life and why we really exist. To do good and leave a legacy of LOVE.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A beautiful quote I love is “The first problem for all of us, men and women, is not to learn, but to unlearn.” – Gloria Steinem
We must unlearn all the things we’ve been conditioned to believe our whole lives. Since we were birthed into this world we are programmed in certain ways by our environments. Our environments are not always correct. You have to step back and see things from other perspectives. The lesson I had to learn in life is I’m not always right.
“Any change starts from unlearning what you already know”
-Srishti Gupta
So I unlearn and learn everyday. That’s growth.
