We were lucky to catch up with Ashlee Bankz recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ashlee, appreciate you joining us today. What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is the one I’m currently working on now titled, “Misery Loves Company.” I’ve been working on this project for a while and didn’t realize it until I started healing. This project is meaningful to me because it reflects the current chapter of my life im in. This project is deeper than just music. It’s me facing my pain, trauma, accepting change, becoming more aware of my energy, surroundings, and welcoming growth. This project is unapologetically me.

Ashlee, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into the industry when my uncle passed, I started pursuing music as a hobby that I enjoyed doing. I’m an all around creative. I love to create. Creating is how I express myself. The problems I solve are everyday problems. I’m an everyday person. I give my fans me and let them learn from me as I go. What sets me apart form others is I’m original, I’m me everyday good or bad. I’m most proud of my strength and how I choose to stay committed to chasing my dreams no matter what life throws as me. I’m proud I’m becoming the person I’ve always wanted to be. I want my potential fans/followers to feel worthy. I want people to look at me and be able to get inspired to be the best them.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn doubt and block out the negativity that I was surrounded by. My journey hasn’t been the easiest but it’s one I’m truly thankful for. I had to learn to trust myself and to most importantly be patient with myself. I learned the person I needed all along was me. The foundation to everything I’m doing all starts with me. The backstory is all company isn’t good company but the right company comes along to compliment you when you become aware of the power your energy/aura has.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is inspiring others and being able to motivate the next person to be their very best. The reward for me is the impact.
