Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Ashleah Walker. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.

Ashleah , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Let’s start with a story that highlights an important way in which your brand diverges from the industry standard.

I believe wellness and beauty must co-exist and for that reason, every client service includes energy healing with their hair appointment at the shampoo bowl.

While it’s not required, I enjoy calling in people who want to turn off the outside world and allow themselves to be taken care of in a way that honors the mind, body and spirit.

I also offer a host of standalone esoteric energy services such as a DNA life activation, cord cutting, good spell castings, crystal rites and Egyptian aura healings. It all depends on what someone is feeling called to explore. I’m definitely more of a pragmatic, results-driven energy healer and enjoy the diagnostics along with the mystical aspect of this work.

Pro tip: Because energy work is one part quantum physics and one part magick, someone’s ability to receive, along with their intentionality, plays a huge part!

It’s an absolutely fascinating field and in the not-too-distant future, enhancing health from this higher level of human functionality will be waaaaaay more mainstream.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?

I’m a former journalist turned hairdresser turned energy healer turned business owner turned coach – and I’m not done yet! ;)

Hairdressing always fascinated me since I was a kid and when I got sober in 2005 I decided I’d go all in on it. I loved it because hair has that power to TRANSFORM in a way no other beauty service does.

But here’s the kicker – in my 11th year of hairdressing I had a drop-down drag-out existential crisis. Nurses call it “practitioner burnout” which is common for any service provider. That was when energy healing found me through one of my salon clients.

It was like nothing I’d ever experienced! It piqued my curiosity so much that I went to study it! I have many certifications now and I began sharing it with salon clients and eventually, teaching other hairdressers how to embody it in their own business.

Hairdressers are some of the BEST modern-day healers because they touch the crown chakra daily in their work. And here’s the kicker – we have thousands of chakras but the crown chakra has the highest vibrational frequency (read: the strongest!) and this is why clients think of us as their therapists or why they can feel super attached to us (or similarly realllllllllly hold onto a bad hair experience!)

Once I understood all of this from an energetic perspective it changed the game for me and I can never go back to being “just a hairdresser.”

Because of the 10,000 hours hairdressers have clocked from time and experience working on crowns, they are uniquely positioned to be masterful at energy work. I just help them become skilled and ethical at it (and charge appropriately!)

From this lens, it’s exciting AF right now to be an esoteric hairstylist. Like, who wouldn’t want to experience a haircut and then get their spiritual DNA activated so they can be a better version of themselves?!

Can you tell us about what’s worked well for you in terms of growing your clientele?

Warmth, hospitality and presence, along with word-of-mouth. That’s honestly been the best over being a constant Instagram contributor. Don’t get me wrong, I love the power of media, but I find that the people who come to me are desiring less time on their phones.

And as strange as it sounds, I do calling-upons for my business regularly, and I ask the divine to bring the people to me who I can be of maximum service to. Almost every week that creates new conversations via email or DM about hair and healing services!

Has your business ever had a near-death moment? Would you mind sharing the story?

That happened in 2020 for sure for me during the shutdown. Often, we tell ourselves “once I have the money then i’ll invest or take the risk or make the jump.” But in my experience it’s ALWAYS been take the jump first – then the divine catches you.

That doesn’t mean it’s gonna be easy. Or even work out in the favor you desire. Buuuuut, it does mean that becoming more YOU, outgrowing fear and embodying your YOU-ness will reap rewards when it’s cultivated from a sincere desire to live in your zone of genius.

For me that was starting my own witchy coaching program for hairdressers even though it didn’t make logical sense at the time and going into debt to afford the coaching that would help me do it! I was smacked in the face with my own money sh!t (and I coach heavily to the energetics of money now).

Walking through the fire has allowed me to speak to my people from a place of experience and wisdom and healing (instead of mindsetting everything and telling your inner child to STFU and sit in the corner).
