We recently connected with Asharah Damore and have shared our conversation below.
Asharah, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
I knew I wanted to pursue a creative/ artistic path professionally when I was a little girl. I also dreamed of being on stage and in front of the camera. I loved write, sing, dance and act.
I don’t think it was an exact moment I just knew. Growing up I as involved in the school choir and plays. I love painting and designing my own clothes. I’ve just always been naturally artistic. So choosing a professional career path was easy for me.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I relocated to Atlanta, Ga because I felt like it was a great entertainment hub for African Americans.
When I first got here I immediately began working. Taking roles in independent films and web series. I started modeling with different agencies. I was even in a neo-soul band. I just did whatever I could to gain more experience and get my name out there.
What I am most proud that I am still going in this industry. I’ve dreamed big my entire life and I am dedicated to my craft. So I am always willing to learn and grow.
I started my omni media brand Asharah Unlimited to serve families and women. I love creating content for children and families which is why one of my first project that I launched was my children’s book series Princess Jona,
I feel like there needs to be more cultural diversity in books, movies, and tv. I am working to close that gap.
What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I feel the most rewarding aspect of being an creative is that there is really no limit to what you can do, Anything that I think about I can create. I love being in control of my creative destiny.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My mission in my creative journey is to create in an authentic voice that truly connects with my audience.
