We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ashaki. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ashaki below.
Ashaki, appreciate you joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
I recently created a relationship card deck. Entitled “Dream Soul” it is something I have been thinking about for years. I have been working on it for the past 2 years and it’s finally done. This deck is a piece of my heart. I created it with one wish in mind: that we all find our person. Whether that’s a soulmate, a friend, or a deeper connection with ourselves—what we all crave, at our core, is to be seen, understood, and loved for who we truly are.
“Dream Soul” Card Deck was born from that desire. I wanted to create something that helps people better understand each other, especially within relationships. Every card is designed to spark meaningful conversations, deepen emotional insight, and hold space for clarity and compassion.
It’s not just a deck. It’s a doorway to more aligned, soulful relationships.
My hope is that it brings you closer to love—in all its forms.

Ashaki, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I was born to be an artist—it’s in my bones. Born and raised in Chicago. I started dancing at the age of six, which led me to performing arts schools and eventually touring the world. From there, I joined a singing group that I was part of for six incredible years. We got signed to a commercial house, and that’s where I first discovered my passion for voiceover and acting.
Eventually, I followed the call to New York City—the heartbeat of artistry. I began working with Sony Records as a songwriter, sharpening my pen and my voice, and carving out my sound. That’s when I released my 1st album entitled “Something Special” Around the same time, I signed with one of the biggest voiceover agencies in the game—and I’m still proudly with them today.
Every chapter added another layer. Dancer. Singer. Songwriter. Actor. Director. I’m not just one thing—I’m the whole vision. A storyteller in every sense. And that’s what sets me apart
What I am most proud of is staying on the path and always following my purpose no matter where it led me. Now living in LA and continuing my dream.
Following your calling. May not always be easy, but it will take you places you could never get to on your own without destiny’s hand at work.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Two months after 9/11, when the world was still holding its breath, I moved to the Bronx in New York City for the first time.
I had already given up my apartment in Chicago when it happened. My family had their reservations, and who could blame them? But I knew I had to follow through. I knew my path was still waiting for me in New York.
That first year wasn’t easy—but it was powerful. I got my first song placed on television, and it lit a fire in me. Still, the city can be unforgiving. After a year, I found myself worn down and moved back to Chicago.
But my spirit never left New York.
Eventually, with just $1500 to my name, I bought a used car and drove back to the city—back to my dream. I crashed with a friend, chasing hope, faith, and fire. Not long after, I landed my dream apartment in Harlem. That space became my sanctuary, my creative cave, my home—for nine years.
That era shaped me. It taught me resilience, faith and the raw beauty of starting over. Listening to your own guidance and intuition. Every sacrifice, every setback, every leap. I transformed into more of who I was meant to be.
For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
The most rewarding part of being an artist is the alchemy—creating something out of nothing. Taking a thought, a feeling, a fragment of an experience, and turning it into art. Watching magic and miracles unfold in real time.
There’s nothing like seeing a song you wrote in your bedroom open doors you never imagined, or stepping on a stage in a country you’ve never been to—and realizing you’re being paid to be there, simply for being who you are.
Art has taken me places my younger self never dreamed of. It’s carried me across oceans, introduced me to souls I was destined to meet, and brought me face-to-face with pieces of myself I didn’t know existed.
The most sacred thing? Watching your destiny unfold, moment by moment—knowing it all came from the courage to be my most authentic self. The creator I was born to be.
