We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Ashad Willis a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Ashad , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today How did you come up with the idea for your business?
I’ve always been someone who found cleaning to be a claiming and centering activity. This ultimately led to the original plan of getting into the AirBnB cleaning business. The funny thing is even though cleaning has always been one of those enjoyable activities for me, I didn’t have the first clue on how to go about starting a professional business. In the beginning this made me a little discouraged, but what I did know is I had a great work ethic and passion for cleaning, so I knew I would thrive in the industry.
Now as you probably already know cleaning services come a dime a dozen. My approach when I entered the industry was to be a company that serviced both residential and commercial properties. A company that was high quality, reasonable prices and provided clients with a variety of a la carte services like deep cleaning, window cleaning, trash porting, floor cleaning, etc. This was important because instead of customers needing to use multiple companies for different services, I would be able to provide it all. One Source Commercial Cleaning is the one stop shop of cleaning services customized to meet every clients needs.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ashad Willis but I go by Shad. I’m a 32 year old male from savannah Georgia. I’m the Father of a 5 year old daughter who motivates me everyday to be better than the last.
My journey into the cleaning business began at the end of 2021 when my girlfriend and I were out to lunch. during that conversation I began to really unpack my passion for cleaning and desires to birth something new, so in May of 2022 One Source Commercial Cleaning was born.
I hit the ground running and quickly learned this wasn’t going to be a walk in the park. I started out thinking I would land big warehouse and office contracts, but that wasn’t the case. My first two contracts were both residential and Iets just say I learned a lot about the industry and how to continue growing into a high quality cleaning business.
As a high quality cleaning business it was important to me that we met all of our clients needs. We offer your standard cleaning services like deep cleans, santitation, organizing, move-out/in etc, but I wanted to go just one step further and provide custom packages for any additional services our clients may need. In short Our goal is to make life easier for our clients and because we know one size doesn’t fit all our business prides itself on being a one stop shop for our clients cleaning needs.
I can honestly say I’m proud of my consistency, perseverance and the volume of business I’ve been able to generate in just a matter or months.
I want my potential clients to know that our goal is to try and meet everyone where they are. We know the importance of clean environments, so our goal is to lighten your daily loads and create spaces that meet your needs.
Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
I would say the most effective strategy so far has been social media. On the different social platforms I bring people along with me. I bring them into my world and help them not only learn about the business but see what the work really looks like and how clients feel through things like testimonies and project before and after shots.
Where do you think you get most of your clients from?
The best source of new client’s has been referrals and word of mouth. One of the things we really pride ourselves on at One Source is good customer service. I believe ensuring that clients have a good experience and are pleased with the final results is ultimately what has led many new residential and commercial clients to want to work with our company.
