We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Asami Kawabata. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Asami below.
Asami, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. If you could go back in time do you wish you had started your business sooner or later?
I think I started at the right time, I had already learned a lot about different camera styles, and settings. I practiced photography with other photographers in the local area to learn from them. I’ve been able to learn and master my own techniques and angles to make sure my clients get the best photographs taken possible. I’m excited to learn more in order to be able offer more services at a better quality to my clients.
Asami, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
A younger version of myself, would not have imagined becoming a photographer. My biggest inspiration was going through my family photos, it was how my uncles, aunts and parents would show me how & where they grew up. They would show me who their friends were, and what they liked to do.
It has inspired me to continue to go through life always capturing photos! For me no matter what circumstances changed, we always had our memories. Most of the time if you are having a good time, you don’t usually take photos because you’re too busy having a good time. Then every now and then you come across the picture that makes you relive that moment again. I get to do that for other people and it’s an amazing experience.
What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
That posting a lot of content continuously is a the most important thing. I think having a lot of content is good for my portfolio but ultimately my main focus is being able to meet client expectations. Having a lot of content to show my followers and building my portfolio is great but the most important thing is when I deliver my photos to the clients, and I see them light up at how amazing they came out and how fun & easy the process was!
What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal is to continue to help clients capture moments of their favorite memories to share with their loved ones for a lifetime. Anywhere from helping a graduate feel proud of their accomplishments, new parents, growing families, business owners, and product photography.
