We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Asaf Flight a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Asaf, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. We’d love to hear about a time you helped a customer really get an amazing result through their work with you.
My first client visiting the U.S. got a prepaid T-Mobile number, and I advised him to download and log in to Uber and Lyft, just in case he needed a ride. Initially, he mentioned that his friends would drop him off at the airport for his flight from San Francisco back to L.A.
With a 10-hour time difference between California and Israel, he called me while I was working, saying he was trying to order an Uber to the airport since his friend couldn’t take him after all. We ended up FaceTiming for about an hour and a half (while I was still working!), but we couldn’t figure out the issue with Uber and Lyft.
In the end, he decided to call a private taxi because he didn’t want to risk missing his flight. But I suggested we try something new: I ordered him an Uber from Israel—and he made it to his flight on time.

Asaf, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Asaf, I’m 27 years old and living in Israel. I graduated on June 4, 2024, with a BA in Management, double majoring in Innovation and Entrepreneurship. I worked at the airport for 2 years and 8 months in a student position—and I loved it!
While working there, I noticed how many travelers from all over the world made mistakes with their flight arrangements. Some forgot essential documents, while others missed their flights for simple but preventable reasons. It was incredibly common. Anytime friends, relatives, or family members were flying, they’d call me with tons of questions, ask me for help with their tickets, or seek my advice on changes or confirmations.
During my time at the airport, my first client reached out to me on Facebook, asking for help with his itinerary to the U.S. What started as a small request ended up being a full trip-planning service: I booked all his flights (international and domestic), hotels, car rentals, insurance, and accommodations from scratch. While he was traveling, I guided him at every step and was available for anything he needed.
Friends and family often asked me why I didn’t start my own business. My answer was simple: I didn’t feel confident enough. But before my first client’s trip even ended, more people were reaching out, expressing interest in my services and saying they’d been looking for someone like me for years.
Now, ASAFLIGHT is a private travel planning, advising, and agency service specializing in solo travelers, honeymooners, and more. As you can see, it’s my name combined with “flight.”

What else should we know about how you took your side hustle and scaled it up into what it is today?
Yes, my side hustle has grown into a full-time business, and it’s been quite a journey! I initially started offering tourism services as a side project while working a regular job at the airport. My passion for travel and helping people experience new cultures was the driving force. I noticed there was a demand for tailored travel experiences that went beyond the typical tourist attractions, and I wanted to fill that gap.
I started small, organizing trips for friends and family, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Word-of-mouth spread. The turning point came when I began using social media to market my services.
Key milestones:
Expanding from solo trips to couples ,families, which allowed me to scale the business.
Reaching the point where I could transition from part-time to full-time, as the demand for my services consistently grew.
