We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Artormiss Bonner a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Artormiss , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. What did your parents do right and how has that impacted you in your life and career?
My pare let me do whatever I wanted to. They trusted that I was a good person. In turn, I learned a lot of thing the hard way. But I learned.also I learned how to do it MY WAY!

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’ve literally been working in the event industry for about 20 years!!! I used to be security for concerts. I used to film performances before camera phones. From sound, to design,to lighting, I’ve done it all. Not on purpose. Those “gigs” just came to me. About 4 years ago I started to question why all of my jobs were in this industry and even more importantly, what could I do with all of this experience. I started throwing events utilizing my experience and the people/artists I met along the way. Me being in the event industry I noticed a lack of passion from the “gate keepers”
It made me want to help all types of artists. visual and performing.
Im most proud of being able to actually help people. And possibly make a change in the way upcoming artists are treated. It can be discouraging for an artist to be talented and not be acknowledged because of their status or situation. I plan to make it possible for every artist to have a chance…. Stay tuned.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
This is the formula: I make a deal with the building owner.
Usually some type of percentage from the door profit.
My show does great
Then the building owner asks for more.
This cycle happens over and over again.
The thing is , when I leave the venue they still do well off of the attention I brought.
I know I need my own spot. Im working on it. Until then I’ll keep adding the flavor to these bland and passionless venues
What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?
Consistency. I was just everywhere. And always willing to help. So when it was my turn people in positions of influence were eager to help me. All I had to do was the work. Everyone who knows me will tell you how determined I am to win. That determination and the fact that my people sees it helps me stay consistent. They are personally invested in me because I am personally invested in them.
