We recently connected with Arthur Sibley and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Arthur, thanks for joining us today. Can you share an important lesson you learned in a prior job that’s helped you in your career afterwards?
One of the most important lessons/ experiences I’ve had in a job was the benefit of learning how to accept criticism. My last occupation allowed me to be a part of and often lead projects. For any given project, before the project was turned in or accepted, it would be reviewed and critiqued either by peers or a supervision team. These groups held no punches. Timing, presentation of self, presentation of the project, and content presented were key. I have been given tough critiques, I have built up some tough skin, and I have learned how to find something positive from most of the criticism that I receive. Being an artist/ creative you are constantly being criticized by so many people and my pervious occupation definitely helped prepare me for all the criticism that comes with being an artist/creative.

Arthur, love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
I’m an artist/ song writer/creative and I have been locked in to music starting from a very young age. I go by A-W.I.S.E. or just W.I.S.E. I currently write and perform songs on social media platforms under @w.i.s.e._remixedit. I have been in and out of doing music up until recently. Now I have been posting remixes on social media adding my verses to other artist’s/creative’s beats, songs, and completing openverse challenges. I do mostly lifestyle music and some Christian Hip Hop (CHH). I provide the service of writing and featuring on songs with artists. One thing that I’m really looking forward to is entering into the world of sync licensing. Something that might set me apart from most would be, I’m not hyped about finding any type of fame or some copious amount of money. I’m simple and I don’t mind blending in with the average Joe. Something I am most proud of is my family being my support. The main thing my followers/ fans should know about me, my music, and my brand is that it is faith based. The music I will provide will be relatable and will be able to be played around kids, grandparents, and people of faith.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is the positive reach and affect it has on the community. People relate to music in so many different ways. Music taps into people’s emotions and drives them. Receiving positive messages about how my music affected a person, helped them get through something, or motivated them definitely leaves me with a sense of accomplishment. That rewarding feeling helps motivate me to continue creating and putting out music for the community.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
First and foremost, I believe I can not take any credit for being resilient during my journey. I give it all to God. It’s crazy because I was actually ready to give up and stop posting music on social media. I was going to just help my brother and his team with their projects and put what I was doing to the side. Before I decided to do that I took time and I prayed on it. I prayed hard, because I love music so much. Minutes later after praying I was sitting and talking with a family member. They randomly brought up the topic of my music and my social media and began telling me how I should keep going and that what I was doing was good. Furthermore, the family member started giving me ideas of other things I could do with my platform and how I could branch off into other aspects with the potential to broaden my reach. I literally almost broke down into tears. That’s when I knew I was supposed to continue doing what I was doing. That moment alone is what keeps me resilient. When I get tired or I feel like I just don’t want to push through, I just think back to that moment and I record that video, I finish that song, and I remain committed.
