We recently connected with Arthur Oniah and have shared our conversation below.
Arthur, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Tell us about a time where you had to overcome a difficult challenge to get ahead. What did you do?
I came up with the tag line #PerseveranceAndGrowth in 2019. Through much prayer and meditation, I identified my life’s work as a continuum of personal development and achievement. I have been through so many obstacles at this point, and the one underlining idea that was pervasive throughout my life was that I always managed to find a way to endure and persevere. I am committed to “the Kaizen way of life”. I believe in the power of incremental growth and success. Put the two together and you have perseverance and growth. I want people to celebrate the small things and big events in life but to understand that there is always more that we can ask of ourselves, from a practical standpoint. Life is filled with many obstacles, and we must prepare our minds and our characters to endure the good fight. My story, and this messaging speaks to that. Constant transformation. I want people to support my brands and businesses who believe in these ideas.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Sure. My name is Arthur Oniah. I am a small-town, country boy that grew up in the South and always had a vision for more. I grew up in Alabama feeling like a “big fish in a small pond” and would eventually move to the great state of Texas to pursue all of my dreams. Fast forward, I always showed a knack for public speaking, entrepreneurship, and inspiring and coaching others. So, in 2019 I decided to officially launch my brand as a business influencer. I have spoken, coached, and mentored through Toastmasters for several years in college, worked in Education for a few years, and helped manage several businesses along the way. Currently, my firm offers merchandise in the form of shirts, hoodies, and “dad hats” to support my message of resilience and personal development. I also do 1-on-1 coaching with clients who require strategic mentoring to achieve their life goals. My new book is/will shortly be published for consumption soon after this is posted, and I have other investments/businesses I plan to roll out over the next few years as well. I predominantly help people with mindset and endurance thinking to achieve their goals by simplifying processes and implementing strategic methods they can use. What sets me apart from others is my casual, yet professional demeanor and relatability. People from different backgrounds feel connected to me in a way that feels familiar, and welcoming. They want to partner with me to achieve their own success. I am most proud of the success stories I rear after working with individuals, and the character of my followers who support me. It is a tribe of resilient men and women who are ambitious and kind-hearted. I have a legacy of helping others, and I hope to work with many more people like this and build an army of success stories we can all be proud of. I am a writer at heart and hope to become a best-selling Author with your support. Please, follow my journey and support in any way you can.
Any insights you can share with us about how you built up your social media presence?
My audience has been organic from the start. I believe this to be the best way to grow. You want your followers to know you to a degree and have followed your journey along the way, so they feel tied to your messaging. There may come a time where you invest in marketing ads, etc. but I don’t believe you need to buy your audience. Ideally, I want “raving fans”, Supporters who genuinely love me and my business, and will do anything to support. Most of these people I have known from the past through school, work, organizations, and networking. Some I have gathered along the way thanks to the algorithms, reels, stories, and a few timely placed Hashtags on my posts. My Best advice is for you to be authentic in what you do, and share as frequently as you can to build momentum. Some of your best ideas/posts will be things that you create routinely and organically.
Conversations about M&A are often focused on multibillion dollar transactions – but M&A can be an important part of a small or medium business owner’s journey. We’d love to hear about your experience with selling businesses.
My message is perseverance and growth. With that said, I have several stories of resilience I could share, which you can learn about in my new book. However, I can recall my medical recovery after graduating high school as a pivotal moment, for sure. It was the night after graduation. I wanted to stay out late and attend several parties. I drove my brand-new car that was gifted to me to a friend’s house to begin, disregarded my fatigue for the first time there. Not listening to wise-advise to stay the night and rest, I decided to hit the road despite dosing off several times. Eventually, I fell asleep at the wheel and totaled my car by wrapping my vehicle around a street signaling, driver side first. I was admitted into the Intensive Care Unit and was slated to stay for 3 weeks. Through faith, prayer, and determination I got out in 3 days! As a former athlete I used my know-how to relearn how to walk again. I started with a crutch, then a cane, to walking, jogging, and ultimately sprinting again. It was a very long and arduous process, but I saw it through. I had a big vision for my goals, and plans to accomplish many things, so that’s just what I did. Persevere and grow.
