We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Arrington Foster a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Arrington thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.
Growing up always having a passion for acting I knew that it would come a time where I’d have to make the decision to leave my hometown in Maryland. So after college and a few years of work a few side jobs I decided to make the big move and go to Los Angeles, CA. It wasn’t an easy decision but I knew it was the right thing to do to make my dreams happened. I remember having the support of my family and that gave me the courage to go. I’m so glad I did because had I not I probably wouldn’t be where I’m at today.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I am an actor and an artist. I’m very proud to be apart of a hit tv show Bet’s The Family Business where I’ve played “Rio Duncan” for the last six seasons. Fans can watch on bet plus. I’m also very proud to be apart of Lifetime’s A Very Merry Beauty Salon which can now be seen on Netflix & Hulu.
Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Resilience is so important in this entertainment business. There’s a lot of no’s and rejections. But you have to keep going. You can’t take no for an answer. That is what I’ve had to do my whole career. When one door closes there’s always another one that opens and I’ve learned that’s what’s for you is for YOU.

Have you ever had to pivot?
After living in LA for 8 years even with the success of my show The Family Business, I found it very difficult to find other roles and I felt stuck. After the pandemic LA changed and I wasn’t happy professionally or personally. So in 2023 I made the decision to move to Atlanta. I knew that if I moved to the new “Hollywood” black Hollywood doors would open and I would be closer to family.
