We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Arquelle Gilder. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Arquelle below.
Arquelle, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Do you wish you had started you own firm sooner?
When I got started in Real Estate I was 22 years old and in a very dark place in my life. I had just dropped out of college for the second time due to lack of financial aide and making less than 1,000 a month. I hated my job, hated myself, and wasn’t really sure what life had in store for me besides being a failure. I knew I didn’t want to stay in that place for the rest of my life and made a decision to get my real estate license and see where it takes me. I had already spoken to someone about the industry a year prior and she was really successful in the business. I always loved homes and helping people. Without knowing what all the industry had in store for me I took the leap and got started. I definitely wish I would’ve gotten started in the business a lot sooner. I learned a lot of great information over the years and felt if I had only implemented things sooner I would be a lot further in life now. I probably would not have stressed myself out about school working out and focused on my career and allowed that to fund my schooling sooner. Also getting those rental properties, and cultivating relationships sooner would have helped a lot. But of course everything happens in God’s timing so I am still happy I got started when I did and cant wait to see where I go from here.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I’m currently 27 years old and have been a REALTOR for the past 5 years while just passing my exam to become a Broker. I got into this business back in 2018 honestly just taking a chance on life for myself. I didn’t know everything I could do in this industry or what it would look like I just knew one person who was successful and figured I would give it a shot. I currently service all of Beaumont to Houston, Tx and surrounding areas and assist clients looking to Buy, sell or invest in Real Estate. I pride myself in working with vendors who assist with down payment assistant programs and products to allow clients to invest in real estate to grow wealth for their future.

What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best source of new clients for me has been from Social Media. I came from not wanting to put myself out there as far as pictures or videos and now I’m trying to do it all plus more.

We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
So I initially started off making my own graphics and everything was a quote or wording to post but never anything about my life, who I am, what I do and where I’m trying to go. I noticed I would only get maybe 2-3 likes a post not much engagement or growth to my following. I started researching other agents in other markets that had a look that I aspired for and began to apple pick what I liked and implement it in my business and marketing. From there I began to see more engagement as I posted pictures of myself, or a video of a home tour or even as simple as a weekend vlog about my life. The people want to read and see a story and you have to give them one worth watching.
