We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Armani Featherson . We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Armani below.
Alright, Armani thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of our favorite things to hear about is stories around the nicest thing someone has done for someone else – what’s the nicest thing someone has ever done for you?
Just the other day, a childhood friend randomly sent me a message telling me she had a dream about me and my business that led her to want to donate to my vision. That was so sweet of her.

Armani , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Every since I was a kid, I took pictures of food and silly pictures of me eating food.
It’s crazy that once I started my food blog, my mom reminded me of this. She said “ you know they say kids show signs of what they’ll do as a career at an early age. You were blogging before the term “blogger” was even popular .”
Taste of the 901 came about during a time where I hated Memphis . I hated living here and I thought everyone here was simpleminded. I felt my happiness would be in another state. I wanted to leave so bad . I started asking my friends in other stares what were the pros and cons of where they lived. Believe it or not, their cities had the same issues I had . So guess what would happen if I moved? Same problems, different people.
I had to change my mindset to “make the best out of living in Memphis until you can leave” so I said I would become a tourist in my own city. After I became a tourist in my own city, I started discovering more and more hidden gems! I have grown to love Memphis so much . It’s so much dopeness here; you just gotta get out and look. Everyone tells me I make Memphis look so fun and I’m always finding stuff that they didn’t know we had . I live for statements like these. I will forever hype my city up mane and give you the absolute best taste of the 901 !
We’d love to hear the story of how you built up your social media audience?
I went back and forth on if I should turn my personal page into my food blog or if I should just start from scratch but my friend told me that it would be best for me to just start from scratch so that I could reach my target audience so that’s what I did .
I started my food blog almost five years ago. It will be five years next month! For people looking to get into content creation, I would say stay consistent, be authentic , and pick a niche and target audience! Collaborate with others in your field and build a community. Don’t worry about not having a million followers. Take care of the followers that you have.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
The most rewarding part of my blog is shedding the positive light on my hometown, Memphis aka BIG MEMPHIS ! The media always shows the negative things about our city and I wanted to change that. I also wanted to change how Memphians see our city. I’m ecstatic when people are shocked and happy to find out that these hidden gems I post are in Memphis. It’s also shocking and funny to me when people recognize me in public now.
