We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Arlin Musane. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Arlin below.
Arlin, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Has your work ever been misunderstood or mischaracterized?
I believe everyone has their own views on how an artist looks or is suppose to be, but it’s no blueprint or standard to art. I know I’m definitely misunderstood do to me listening to what i hear from people. But i enjoy the mystery behind my persona because i know everyone wants to know the real version but that isn’t for the world to see. People got too entitled to knowing everything about artist. In the beginning of my career i tried a lot of things and not until mid 2022 – 2023 i found my sound and feel, the real things that make me different. I think the process allowed people to see what i was good at & flaws musically. It was always apart of the process tho so, im glad it worked out that way. I remember i was in a car in the beginning of the pandemic and i heard this girl introduce me and said this is my friend “Arlin , he does music for fun” and i needed that moment to push me to really make the outside world know this is real. Made me also, only put out undeniable songs and create a real plan with releasing.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
For, people who never heard about me my name is Arlin Musane and i started doing music out of the collective group “NBS” – Nothing But Stacks in 2020 and went by NBS Arlin. Later that year i became a solo artist and started stringing out singles Top of 2021, still finding myself i went through things and had to go through self discovery. R&B mixed with hip hop & reggae influence my music strongly. Weather it’s singing or song writing i always start from a root and work my way from a story from me or , the people around me. I make sure i leave the listener with a story or a message makes them feel something on the inside.

Looking back, are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
I wish i knew the truth about the music industry before i stepped foot in it. A lot of people say that because it’s nothing like how tv makes it seem. Plenty of disappointing moments from people you look up to. What has to be understood is you don’t know these people in reality, the music doesn’t always result or show their personality. The business aspect should be also briefly spoke on with all upcoming artist too, atleast the surface level point.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
I’ve always been a person who would do things for my self but music is less about me and more about others. I feel accomplished by the fans and supporters response to the music. As long as I’m able to make money from music, pay bills and eat off this lifestyle I’m ok with it. Singles are my moments and albums and mixtapes are a book I’m sharing to the world. It’s always a message I’m giving to the people and i don’t like anything with no dept. I like to think of my music like a mineral in food, if not any than it’s trash no matter if people dance to it or not. In the next two months I’ll be dropping singles leading up into my 1st mixtape for the year titled TEN: Tale of the Misunderstood, ten was my first rap name whn i was around my cousin CNO in 2013 but i didn’t see my self as a artist at the time and now im coming into my own.
