We were lucky to catch up with Arletha Orr recently and have shared our conversation below.
Arletha, appreciate you joining us today. Let’s kick things off with your mission – what is it and what’s the story behind why it’s your mission?
My name is Arletha Orr and I’m an Author, Publisher and Certified Grief Coach. In 2016, my family (husband and only 2 children) were killed in a train accident. As I watched and waited for help to arrive, I pulled from a strength that was stronger than I, El Shaddai.
From there, God spoke a word that gave me hope for my future. Also, that’s when my first book entitled “Live” was birthed. It tells how I overcame the most difficult time in my life. I know, without a doubt, that I was graced with a special anointing to help others navigate through the same journey and that’s when I begin to learn more about being a Grief Coach.
That’s the purpose of my ministry! I have a heart to genuinely help others. I want to give that parent, spouse, aunt or uncle an opportunity to escape all of their burdens by providing them with a platform to release and receive! They will release all the hurt and heaviness that’s been a burden and receive the grace and glory of peace and Our Father.
It is my prayer that God’s power will pierce the heart of everyone I come in contact with and they will be ready to live!

Arletha, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Arletha Orr is an American author from a small town in Mississippi. Orr initially started working a corporate job until exasperated by it and she eventually ventured into full time entrepreneurship until she realized that destiny had other plans for her.
It was only when her world collapsed around her, after a fatal evening that Arletha discovered her true calling in life. She knew that God had a greater purpose for her and with Him by her side, Orr began her journey to shine a light for the people whose lives had been consumed by the darkness around them. It was then in 2016 that she had turned to writing.
She knew that in order to reach out to others like her and spread the word of God, she needed them to hear her story. Her works are infused with the hope that Christ had blessed her with at a time when all the light around her seemed to be fading away. It is this hope and the Lord’s presence that she wants her readers to feel through her work because her experiences have taught her that when all hope is lost, it is His hand on your shoulder that will help one weather any storm.
With this passion and vigor, she hopes to selflessly serve others and save souls for His Kingdom. When she’s not writing, Arletha enjoys worshipping God, traveling, and working to help others – all of which, contribute to broadening her horizons and perspective on life. She’s also a Certified Grief Coach, and the founder of Kingdom Trailblazers Publishing & Kingdom Trailblazers Academy.

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?
Everything we do in life requires us to decide. In 2016, when I lost my family in a train accident, I had a decision to make. I had the options to throw in the towel and drown in my misery or live! I chose to live!
Grief can be hard to go through and I believe I was graced to go through it to help others. I had to keep going. I knew God wouldn’t leave me like that to suffer…because I’m a believer in Him. I had to keep going and I needed His strength to help me. I take joy in sharing with others and helping them to get through it.

What’s a lesson you had to unlearn and what’s the backstory?
A lesson I had to “unlearn” was sharing my emotions. When I was younger, I wanted everyone to be happy, so I never expressed myself of how I really felt. As I got older, realized that I needed to be free and release.
That was very important to have during grieving because you don’t need to hold those emotions and feelings in. When grieving, you should let it all out. Even with business and other things we do in life, let it out…. you’ll feel better.
