Arleshia, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
Customers are important to any business in order for it to succeed. My goal is to make a sweet impression to all of my customers especially the new ones who support my business. A happy customer may be more likely to not only come back but to also spread the word about my business. Everyone likes to feel valued. In the past and recently, I have given my customers personalized customer appreciation gifts like keychains, mini flashlights, reusable shopping bags, pens and tumbler cups. I remember surprising one of my customer’s with a bag that had a pen and keychain inside and just to see the smile on her face and how excited she was to receive a gift from Krave Your Chocolates that she was not expecting to receive was priceless. From that point on, I like to show my customers how much I appreciate them for their love and support!


Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Arleshia Murphy, I am the creative force behind Krave Your Chocolates. I started this business a few years ago when my mom took sick and I wasn’t able to work anymore because I had to care for her and be her caretaker. When I had extra time in between caring for my mom I decided it would be the perfect time for me to turn my hobby into my small business. Krave Your Chocolates specialize in sweet treats. cookies, cakes, wedding favors and party favors for any occasion. What sets me apart from others is the fact that my business is mobile and majority of the businesses I have seen specialize mostly in cakes and cookies. My business specialize in chocolate candy clusters which I haven’t seen too many businesses making the types of candy that I make. I am most proud of the various products that I offer and when customers tell me how much they love my products. I have heard some of the funniest stories from my customers regarding my products. This is confirmation that I found my niche and doing what I love to do. I want all of my customers and potential customers to know life is always sweeter with Krave Your Chocolates. All of my products are homemade with love!


What’s been the most effective strategy for growing your clientele?
The most effective strategy for growing my clientele is definitely through word of mouth. Majority of my clients have been referrals from other people who have tasted my products and supported my business. Another effective strategy for growing my business is passing out flyers, the use of social media by posting my products regularly or when I introduce new products to my followers. Last but not least, I vendor at events and give out samples of my products in order to increase my sales and attract new customers.


How did you put together the initial capital you needed to start your business?
When I first started Krave Your Chocolates I had zero dollars in my bank account. All I had was a pen, notebook, a credit card and a bunch of ideas jotted down on paper. I will say that I had people who believed in me, supported me and really enjoyed my products. Those individuals became my sponsors by donating monetary gifts to me on behalf of my business. Once my sales started to improve I was able to fund the items I needed to keep my business growing. In closing, Krave Your Chocolates have been in business for 3 years. And remember, Life is always sweeter with Krave Your Chocolates!!
