We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Arlene Dizon a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Arlene, thanks for joining us today. Almost all entrepreneurs have had to decide whether to start now or later? There are always pros and cons for waiting and so we’d love to hear what you think about your decision in retrospect. If you could go back in time, would you have started your business sooner, later or at the exact time you started?
There’s a part of me that believes starting sooner could have opened doors to greater opportunities, more experience, and earlier financial freedom. I could have gained valuable insights earlier, build stronger networks, and had even more time to grow my brand. But then I remember that timing is everything. The lessons I’ve learned, the experiences I’ve had, and the person I’ve become all happened at the right moment for me. The challenges I faced before starting prepared me for the journey of entrepreneurship. Every step I took leading up to this was part of the foundation I needed to succeed.
Starting my business when I did allowed me to align my goals, values, and vision with who I am today. It gave me the clarity I needed to build something meaningful and sustainable.
So while it’s tempting to think about what could have been, I’m grateful for the path I took. It taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of trusting the process.
Would I have started my business earlier if I could go back in time? Perhaps. But I truly believe everything happened just as it was meant to.

Arlene, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I got into real estate because I wanted more control over my schedule and the potential to shape my own success. Before starting my own real estate business, I had worked in environments where I felt limited in terms of flexibility and growth. I realized that I needed a career that aligned with my personal goals – one where I could help people, build meaningful connections and have the freedom to manage my time.
Real estate stood out to me because it offered that balance of independence and opportunity. Helping clients with one of the most significant decisions of their lives – buying or selling a home – felt rewarding and meaningful. I was also drawn to the business side of things, where I could develop my own strategies and create a brand that reflects my values.
Starting in real estate was a leap, but it’s been fulfilling to build something of my own. I love that I can offer a range of services, from property management to relocation assistance and help clients navigate the entire process with confidence.
What’s been the best source of new clients for you?
The best source of new clients for me are referrals from past clients, family, friends, neighbors. These are the people who know me best and can vouch for me personally and professionally.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
In an industry as competitive as real estate, building a strong reputation is critical. It doesn’t happen overnight, but with consistent effort, integrity and a client-focused mindset, it can be achieved. Looking back on my journey, I can confidently say that a few key elements played a major role in helping me establish and grow my reputation within the market.
1. Commitment to Client Centered Service:
From the beginning of my real estate career, I made a conscious decision to prioritize my clients’ needs above all else. Whether they were buying, selling or seeking advice. I ensured that their goals remained the focal point of our interaction. This commitment allowed me to build trust, which is the foundation of any strong relationship. My clients knew that I was there to support them through every stage of the process, from initial inquiries to final closings.
2. Staying Educated and Knowledgeable
The real estate market is constantly evolving. Staying informed about market trends, legal regulations and financial options is crucial. I invested time in continuous education, keeping up to date with certifications and training. Being a knowledgeable resource for clients gave them confidence that I could navigate any situation, whether it was a fluctuating market or a challenging negotiation. This expertise is something that clients appreciate and speak highly of
3. Effective Communication
I’ve always believed that clear, honest and timely communication sets the tone for successful business relationships. I ensured that my clients were informed every step of the way. It avoids surprises and ensured that my clients felt empowered to make informed decisions.
4. Building Trust through Integrity
Real estate is an industry that heavily relies on trust. I always made sure that my clients knew they could count on me to be honest, even if it meant delivering news they didn’t want to hear. Whether advising against a poor investment or encouraging patience in a competitive market, my focus was always on long term satisfaction of my clients.
5. Consistency and Reliability
Consistency is key in any business. Over the years, I’ve worked hard to develop a system that ensures no detail is overlooked, and no clients feels forgotten. Being reliable – whether it’s showing up on time, or being available when clients need me – has been one of the cornerstones of my success.
6. Leveraging Technology and Marketing Strategies
In today’s world, digital presence and marketing play a huge role in establishing credibility. I embraced technology early in my career, ensuring that my listings were well-marketed through multiple platforms. I also leveraged social media to showcase client success stories, market trends, and valuable real estate tips. This helped me reach a wider audience and solidify my presence in the local market.
7. Building Relations, not Just Transactions
Finally, I never approached real estate as merely a transaction-based business. For me, it was always about building lasting relationships. Many of my clients have become lifelong friends and that personal connection is something I cherish. By treating each transaction as the beginning of a long term relationship, I’ve been able to develop a strong network of clients who are not just satisfied with their experience but eager to refer me to others.
