We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Arismendy Jr Montero a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Arismendy Jr , appreciate you joining us today. We’d love to go back in time and hear the story of how you came up with the name of your brand?
Note this is a rough cut of the story some detail I can’t remover but for the most part I do. It was me and a friend one night in an apartment in Philadelphia, jamming sharing ideas, and the thought had accord to me…huh I think it’ll be a good time to start printing some photos so as we went on we struggled to find a name for the business, we shared great ideas just no name. it wasn’t till the next morning I asked for some water and he handed me a yellow mug; there it was I told him this is it yellow cup, that same week or two I had shared the idea with another friend, we bought the domain and the rest was history I moved down here to Austin and started printing ! I’ve loved it ever since

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I was going to school originally to be an electrician and as i was watching a video from a you tuber and was automatically drawn in by the art work in the video, i loved how everything was shot i thought it was soo cool. after that day i was so excited that i went and grabbed a camera, and have loved the craft ever since. i was amazed how it all functioned, how the camera worked, i started taking photos, playing with video, and soon after met a photographer who was truly and inspiration because he had started telling me stories about how much he had been able to do and places to go; film in diffrent parts of the country, world; and i think all that excitement pushed me through all the times i was soo tired, but the joy from playing with a camera, kept me up and we can go on forever but to keep it short i started Yellow Cup Studios to be able to do just that; to film, photograph and share that with the world, create memories for others; a time in their journey, a story they want to tell, that can also help someone else.

Can you share your view on NFTs? (Note: this is for education/entertainment purposes only, readers should not construe this as advice)
man thats the one thing i don’t really understand to much yet i’ve heard it is a good space for photographers and different forms artist to showcase their work but i still would need more education to better express it.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
o no i think they will ! maybe not every aspect but for sure the core of it, they’ll just translate it in their way of understanding things and vise versa us trying to understand them; because they’re creative in their own way as well, and if we take a little time we can better understand one another creating more space for new knowledge.
