We recently connected with Arion Vanzego and have shared our conversation below.
Arion , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today When did you first know you wanted to pursue a creative/artistic path professionally?
It started back beginning of 2019, when I gained a real interest in wanting to display any type of creative work onto the internet. Around that time, I was making content for Youtube involving around mainly music and fashion. I was recording videos with my broken iPhone 12 and a cheap Amazon microphone, with hindsight, it helped me learned editing and the whole process of recording in a unique way. I eventually upgraded to a Canon Rebel T6, that I got from my friend for $350. It came with the whole bag, extra lens, everything original but he barely used it so I just bought it barely knowing anything about cameras. The moment I got the camera, I used it everyday after that and never looked backed. With Youtube being my best friend, I was already taking pictures and shooting videos before that summer came. While I bought the camera originally for the purpose of upgrading from the iPhone for the content videos, I quickly fell in love with photography. I was receiving great feedback as well which motivated me to pursue that craft even more. Going into 2020, I had a business scheme in play for photography and videography, with the ultimate vision of becoming a platform for artists and creators to display their craft through my skills. My vision led me to create Flourish Productions. The word, flourish, holds so much value to me with it’s meaning always impacting my views physically and spiritually. I planted a seed of hope that has now began blossoming into something beautiful that’s nowhere near from it’s end.
Fast forward to August of 2023, I started a new chapter within this journey of finding myself creatively. I gained an interest in DJing with the idea of working directly with artists to promote their art. With the progression of Flourish since it’s brith, I’ve created a business venture that’s led to many connections and partnerships with other businesses and creators. This allowed the transition to music almost seamless, as I was already working around the same type of creatives as I am currently. Music has always been in my life, as a kid growing up in the church and playing instruments through school. Today, I have released over 100 tracks and projects with over 50,000 plays on all streaming platforms, collaborating with artists under the name, DJ Flugazy. I’ve tied in my camera skills with the DJing, almost creating a marketing firm for artists by covering multiple aspects of creating and advertising the art being made. In the near the future, I plan on turning my focus to producing and engineering tracks, tapping back into my childhood love of creating music. I’m truly more than grateful for how far I have come in this artistic journey of mine, and can’t wait to see what else the future holds.

Arion , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I am currently a DJ, under the name DJ Flugazy. I mostly work directly with artists to create body of work through their music and the assistance of my creative direction. The artist and I will work together to create a track or a complete project, collaborate on marketing the art by creating visuals down to the cover art for the music, then to finally promoting it in a creative way to reach media platforms. I do live DJ sets as well for artists shows, events, etc. I also run Flourish Productions, a marketing firm for creatives and businesses, mainly through the services of photography, videography, and digital media. Having a love for photography and fashion, has always led me to be in the modeling scene and eventually motivated me to want to be on the other side of the camera. This has led me to being blessed with opportunities of modeling for clothing brands and marketing products for businesses. Everything I work on now honestly goes hand to hand as I’m always grateful to say I have turned my hobby into a business.

Any resources you can share with us that might be helpful to other creatives?
One thing I wish I would’ve seen more starting off my creative journey are real life examples of where I mentally envisioned myself being in the future. Nowadays, I’ve realized a lot of the decisions I made leading to my current position were dream and faith motivated. This is because I never had a mentor or a person who I could get inspiration and learn from in my circle of family and friends. It took time after making the decision to pursue this journey for me to be able to connect with peers who shared similar ideals as mine and to be able to build and connect through those relationships. Something I wish I was able to experience early on but am grateful things played out the way they did.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?
My love for God and the understanding that my skills are only part of the overall mission that is above my personal joy and satisfaction. My purpose is to use the tools God has blessed with me to honor him and touch as many hearts as I am just a vessel of his love and strength. I want to show how beautiful the process of flourishing is as you can blossom your dreams into reality through faith.
