We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Arielle Richardson. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Arielle below.
Arielle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Risk taking is something we’re really interested in and we’d love to hear the story of a risk you’ve taken.
When I decided to have bariatric surgery, it was a big decision, a life changing one! at the age of 32 not only did I have sleep apnea, but I was also diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and high cholesterol. My doctor explained to me that my liver and kidneys were functioning above normal and that was not a good sign. This all came in a flash and led me to a life changing decision which led me to my podcast. As a bariatric patient we are told to journal and keep track of the changes that we’re making in our diet and our bodies and in our minds. I decided to record myself talking to myself about the ins and outs of this process. After being Co-host on Black Billionaire talk which is a podcast about entrepreneurship, I decided I should try my hand on podcasting about my bariatric journey. This kept me accountable as well as honest. Not thinking that I was going to make an impact on anyone’s life I recorded every week in posted every week. After hearing that a couple of people learn from my podcast, and it really benefited their lives I decided to make it my duty. To tell my story and help one person was my goal. With being a Wellness partner comes the task of proper nutrition, exercise, and mindfulness. Since I am a Herbalife distributor it allows me to talk about the products that I use on a regular basis to help me along my journey. While I am not super salesy, I do enjoy the products that I use and suggest that everyone try something one time.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers
My podcast Talk Lucidly 33 is about journeying to a better 33 and beyond. This is a platform I use to discuss wellness, weight loss, and all that. I stand before you a type 2 diabetic and remission. Going from a 10.1 A1C to a 5.4 A1C is an amazing testimony and tribute to my hard work and dedication to my body. It’s never too late to start making changes for the better. I hit a brick wall when my doctor went through all of my blood work, and I don’t want to do that again. My goal now is to help other people through that trying time in their lives whether it be mental Wellness, weight loss, or anything that benefits their whole self.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I started the bariatric process with a doctor near my home in October of 2021. I went through all of the steps and received all of the clearance is needed to have the surgery. I went through all of the appointments required by my insurance and met all of the criteria for an approval. My paperwork was sent off to my insurance provider and I was denied. This was a deafening blow to my confidence, and my mental Wellness. In my mind I had done everything right and still hit a wall. Where weeping endures for a night, I know that joy comes in the morning so says my grandmother. Before this denial I met a woman going through a similar process that was also denied and she told me what she did. While I didn’t think her story aligned with mine after receiving my denial, I knew that was no coincidence. I began to investigate alternatives such as self-pay options. This option allowed for me to pay for my surgery in cash, my village is the most supportive village around. I fundraised come on tapped into 401K’s, reach out to family and friends, and more to ensure that I can make this decision to change my life.

How’d you meet your business partner?
Over a year ago I was looking into nutrition clubs and places where I can go to eat out and be guilt free. during my Google searches I found this place called Talkhouse. it had pretty good reviews and delicious looking shakes, so I decided to take a trip. Upon arrival to this place, I was treated with love & affection as if I was an old friend. This is important on a Wellness journey as you feel supported throughout your process. I got to know the owner of Talkhouse Trinity and later found out that the product served at the nutrition club were available for purchase. Since I wanted this to be a treat for myself, I never got into the business. I wanted my shakes made for me just like someone would want Starbucks made for them. this was my escape and my happy place, a way for me to get my day started free of any interruptions, whining children, or needy husbands. Nadine would later be the person to introduce me to distributing for Herbalife!
