We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ariel Willow. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ariel below.
Hi Ariel, thanks for joining us today. Being a business owner can be really hard sometimes. It’s rewarding, but most business owners we’ve spoken sometimes think about what it would have been like to have had a regular job instead. Have you ever wondered that yourself? Maybe you can talk to us about a time when you felt this way?
As a business owner, I think it’s easy to get to points where we face doubts of whether or not the business we have is worth pursuing and that can happen for a variety of reasons- whether due to difficulties or struggling with imposter syndrome and doubting if we have what it takes to make things work. But inevitably, we make it through.
More than a few times, this has happened to me in my own business and I always come back to the same foundation that has helped me get through difficulty before which is trusting in your ability to make it through anything. If you trust that you can show up for yourself, you truly can make it through anything you’re faced with.
Now when I’m faced with difficulty, judgement (outer or self-imposed), setbacks and other circumstances, I remind myself that if I’ve made it this far, I can continue. If I could get through what I had, I can make it through this too. If it still fails, I can find a way forward.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’ve had the ability to see spirits and other beings for as long as I can remember. A lot of my memories from childhood involve some sort of interaction with spirit and as a teen and then adult years, it became apparent that it was something I couldn’t necessarily avoid or “shut down”. Once I more fully accepted it, it bloomed and became something I could start utilizing to help others and from that, grew a deep passion for helping others with my abilities and a deep fulfillment from being able to do so.
I offer sessions that include astrology, witchcraft, spiritual coaching, etc. to better help others either find clarity around the situations they’re navigating or honing their own abilities.
I pride myself in taking a humble approach to spirituality. New age practices have watered down spirituality from something deep and nuanced to something that’s a bragging right and takes away from the deep transformations that can happen from truly seeing the whole self- the dark, light and everything in between and taking steps and actions to navigate those parts of the self and use them for our benefit.
My goal in my work is to help clients do just that- whether via knowing yourself on a deeper level or being located in a beneficial area through astrology, exploring abilities through coaching sessions, getting clarity and insight from a reading or getting a boost from spirit through witchcraft, I want to help others step into their power and transform their lives and/or practices into something they’re proud of.
How did you build your audience on social media?
I truly do feel I was lucky in a lot of ways with how my social following grew, but I think something that helped it grow was simply showing up as me and not a curated version of how I felt others wanted me to show up. Yes, professionalism can be a good thing and I think it’s beneficial to show up in ways where we put our best foot forward, but I also find a lot of beauty in the mess of the human experience and being able to relate to others because of how open and honest they are in how they show up.
Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
The way you show up for your work matters and is seen whether it’s talked about openly or not. It’s easy to start a business within the spiritual space and offer card readings and such, but how you show up in your own way within your readings is what sets you apart.
I really encourage those who are struggling to help themselves stand out to think about what matters to *you* when you receive a service and consider adding that to your own approach.
