We were lucky to catch up with Ariel Ellzey recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ariel, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. So let’s jump to your mission – what’s the backstory behind how you developed the mission that drives your brand?
The mission behind Miracle Malcolm is deeply personal. My son, Malcolm, was born prematurely and spent time in the NICU—a season filled with uncertainty, faith, and hope. That experience opened my eyes to just how many families walk through similar challenges, often feeling unseen or overwhelmed. Out of that journey, I felt called to create a brand that not only raises awareness about premature birth but also reminds every child and parent that they are fearfully and wonderfully made.
Miracle Malcolm started as a children’s book written for my son, but it has grown into something so much bigger—a movement to inspire families, provide encouragement, and celebrate the miracles in our lives, big or small. The mission is meaningful to me because it’s born from my own testimony. It’s not just a business; it’s a way to turn our pain into purpose, to uplift others walking that same path, and to spread a message of faith, resilience, and love.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My name is Ariel Ellzey and I’m the founder & writer of Miracle Malcolm, a children’s book collection and lifestyle brand inspired by the journey of my son, Malcolm. He was born prematurely and spent time in the NICU, and while that was one of the hardest seasons of my life, it was also the spark that led me to my purpose. I wanted to create something that would not only celebrate his miracle but also give hope to other families who find themselves on a similar path.
That vision became Miracle Malcolm—a brand that began with a children’s book but has grown into a mission-driven platform. We create books, apparel, and resources that shine a light on premature birth awareness and encourage families with the reminder that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. What sets us apart is that we’re not just selling products—we’re sharing a message of faith, resilience, and community. Every piece we create is infused with meaning, designed to remind parents and children of their worth, their strength, and their story.
The problem we solve is visibility and support for NICU and preemie families who often feel unseen. We give them representation, encouragement, and something tangible to hold on to. For families outside of that experience, our products still resonate because they celebrate uniqueness, strength, and the beauty of every child.
What I’m most proud of is turning a personal trial into a source of hope for others. Seeing families connect with Malcolm’s story and feel uplifted means everything to me. For potential clients, followers, or fans, I want them to know that Miracle Malcolm is more than a brand—it’s a testimony. It’s about celebrating life’s miracles, big and small, and creating a community that reminds us all that we were made with intention, purpose, and love.

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
One of the most defining stories of resilience in my journey comes from the very beginning—when my son, Malcolm, was born prematurely. We were suddenly thrown into the world of the NICU, surrounded by machines, monitors, and uncertainty. Every day was a mix of fear and faith. I remember moments where I wasn’t sure what tomorrow would look like, but I also knew I had to stay strong for him.
That season tested me in ways I couldn’t have imagined. I learned how to advocate for my child, how to find strength when I felt depleted, and how to trust God through the unknown. Rather than allowing that pain to break me, I chose to let it shape me. Out of that journey, I found the courage to write Malcolm’s story, which eventually became Miracle Malcolm.
For me, resilience meant turning one of the hardest chapters of my life into something purposeful—creating a brand that uplifts families and spreads a message of hope. Every time I see a parent or child encouraged by Malcolm’s story, I’m reminded that resilience isn’t just about surviving challenges, but about transforming them into something that blesses others.

We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
A big lesson I had to unlearn was the idea that I had to have everything perfectly figured out before stepping into my purpose. For a long time, I thought I needed all the resources, the connections, and the perfect plan before I could build something meaningful. The backstory is that when Malcolm was born prematurely and I felt God placing this vision on my heart, my first reaction was, ‘But I’m not ready.’ I didn’t know the publishing world, I didn’t have a big platform, and I questioned if I was qualified to share our story.
But what I’ve learned—and what I had to unlearn—is that purpose doesn’t wait for perfection. Stepping out in faith with what I had, even if it felt small, was the key to growth. If I had waited until everything looked perfect, Miracle Malcolm wouldn’t exist today. Letting go of that mindset allowed me to embrace progress over perfection and trust that God equips those He calls. That shift has not only changed how I approach business but how I approach life.
