We were lucky to catch up with Ariel Berardi recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ariel, appreciate you joining us today. Do you wish you had started sooner?
If I could go back in time, I do wish I would have started this creative career sooner. I actually did pursue being a makeup artist at the young age of 20, although I wasn’t working nearly as often as I am nowadays. It was mostly a side gig for me back then. My motivation skyrocketed in my mid- late 20’s which has placed me in a successful position.
I wish I had taken this path more seriously earlier on, but everyone’s path is different, and I believe my timing ended out working perfectly for me. If you’re determined, no matter what age, you will succeed.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a professional makeup artist based in Northeast Florida but will travel. I do makeup for bridal, special events, commercial, editorial work, etc. I was born in Rochester, NY and moved to Florida at a young age. I took a leap of faith after I had my first son at the age of 24 and jumped back into the world of makeup artistry. You could say that was one of the best decisions I ever made.
I have a love and passion for empowering women/men through beauty. At a young age I always loved to create, whether it be drawing, painting, or creating a unique or glamorous makeup look. I have always been fascinated by the world of art. I like to glamorize the world around me and that includes faces of course!
I create all different kinds of looks depending on the client’s desires or project I’m working on. Natural, soft glam, or glamorous – whatever your style is, I can do it all. I do a lot of bridal work. Having patience and an ability to work under pressure is a huge characteristic of a bridal makeup artist.
I get to work in such positive and magical environments, and it makes my heart so full seeing my clients’ eyes light up with confidence once they take glance at themselves. This is just the beginning and I foresee so much more success with the brand I’ve created. I’ve made my dreams a reality with this creative craft and couldn’t be more grateful for the support I’ve received along the way.
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist is watching your client or model’s mood shift to pure excitement and gleam with all the confidence in the world. It is just so rewarding helping people feel their best selves.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
To help support creatives thrive, share, share, share! Social media’s influence in today’s world is huge and is such a helpful tool for us artists. We can pretty much show off our portfolios to the entire world within seconds with a tap of a button.
