We were lucky to catch up with Arianne Loyola recently and have shared our conversation below.
Arianne , appreciate you joining us today. How’s you first get into your field – what was your first job in this field?
I went to a trade school that specialized in esthetics, cosmetology and massage therapy. I took the esthetics program because ever since I was in high school I was always fascinated with bettering my skin and helping educate others on the importance of skincare. I also have dreamed of becoming a dermatologist and I know that being an esthetician would help me truly understand skin. While I was still in my program, after a few months we were allowed to take clients so I was letting all my friends, family and social media mutuals know to come and book a service. Since I was a student, we performed facials at a discounted price and I always made sure my clients felt comfortable and I’d walk them through their service if they were too nervous. One day I came to class and had a client that booked me that I did not know about till 20 minutes prior. I was nervous and frustrated because I didn’t bring all my supplies with me that one day since I wasn’t expecting any bookings that day. I quickly grabbed what I could and a few of the other girls in my class lent me a hand and let me borrow some of their equipment to perform the service. I was confused still because usually I would know at least a day before that I had a client but I wasn’t going to turn them down because I wanted to get my hands on all different types of skin and this was no exception. My client came and I did my consultation with her as I would normally, asking her what her skin concerns were and letting her know what we would be doing. I did my service as usual and when I was done she was very pleased with the results and how I made sure she was okay at all times. She then revealed to me that she was a salon owner seeking a few estheticians to work at her shop. She told me that she loved how I went about everything and how I made sure she was comfortable and she gave me a card to call her when I graduate. Surely enough, after 5 more months I graduated and contacted her as soon as I received my certification. We had a meeting about pay, what to expect and how she ran her salon. She had 1 suite available and I was able to get it. She was a cosmetologist but she had some knowledge of esthetics and was able to give me some very helpful business tips and strategies on how to promote myself to her clients and potential clients for me. At first it was a little rocky getting clients and it did make me feel discouraged but I knew I just had to wait it out. We worked very well together and she was like a second mother for me because she always pushed me to be a better business person and go out of my comfort zone and I needed that extra push. After a while clients started to book more with me and her clients as well. I’m so very happy I got to work with such a wonderful woman and she truly made my experience going into the esthetics industry an eye-opener and was informative. I learned many valuable lessons and life-long skills with her that will help me in the long run when I finally have my own building.
Arianne , love having you share your insights with us. Before we ask you more questions, maybe you can take a moment to introduce yourself to our readers who might have missed our earlier conversations?
My name is Arianne Loyola and I am 22 year old Licensed Esthetician. My passion for skincare runs deep and its started back in high school. I would offer makeup services to my peers for $10 in the choir room. I’d also tweeze girls eyebrows in the bathroom for $5 and it may not have been the most sanitary, however, I got the job done and was always very clean. From there, I realized my love for helping others look and feel their best, and I began educating myself and my friends about the importance of taking care of your skin. Over time, I honed my skills and turned that passion into a career.
Now, as an esthetician, I specialize in a variety of services including individual lash services, lash lifts, waxing, eyebrow tinting, makeup, facials, and corrective skin treatments. My approach is centered around care, comfort and education. I focus on addressing each client’s specific skin concerns, helping them achieve their desired results, all while making sure they feel relaxed and informed throughout the process. It’s not just about the service; it’s about leaving each client feeling better about their skin and more knowledgeable about how to care for it.
What sets me apart is my commitment to education and personalized care. I want my clients to not only see results but also understand their skin better so they can maintain their progress. After care is just as important as the service itself, as it helps maintain those results longer. I’m proud of the relationships I’ve built and the trust my clients place in me, and I’m passionate about creating a space where people can feel both pampered and empowered.
I’ve built some very great friendships and relationships with my clients with them even having me do their kids makeup/hair or other services for their graduations, proms, and other events. I’ve been invited to do some clients makeup for their weddings as well. It feels very good to see my relationships with my clients grow into something very intimate and special.
If you’re looking for a service that prioritizes both your comfort and your skin’s health, I’m here to help. My goal is to make every client feel confident in their skin and leave each appointment feeling like they’ve learned something new.
Other than training/knowledge, what do you think is most helpful for succeeding in your field?
I believe building strong, trusting relationships with clients is essential for success in the esthetics field. Being able to truly listen to each client’s needs, concerns, and goals allows me to tailor my services to meet their specific desires. The ability to make them feel comfortable, relaxed, and informed is just as important as the treatments themselves. In my eyes a compassionate, client-focused approach creates an environment where clients not only achieve their desired results but also leave feeling more confident in their skincare journey. Trust, communication, and a genuine passion for helping others are key to fostering long-term relationships and ensuring clients feel valued and cared for.
If you could go back, would you choose the same profession, specialty, etc.?
If I was to go back in time, I would absolutely choose the same profession again. My second option for a career was to be a musician but I always knew my passion for skincare would arise at some point. Being an esthetician allows me to combine my passion for helping others with the ability to create meaningful, positive changes in people’s lives. Even if I had went with my second career choice of being a musician, I still feel like I would’ve found my way back to skincare. I am a huge people-pleaser and helping others feel better about themselves is what drives me in my career. What truly keeps me in this field is the satisfaction of not only seeing physical results but also empowering clients with the knowledge they need to care for their skin. The personal connections I build and the joy of seeing clients leave feeling informed, and more confident makes every part of this career incredibly fulfilling. I can’t imagine doing anything else.
