We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Arianne King Comer. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Arianne below.
Hi Arianne, thanks for joining us today. One of the toughest things about progressing in your creative career is that there are almost always unexpected problems that come up – problems that you often can’t read about in advance, can’t prepare for, etc. Have you had such and experience and if so, can you tell us the story of one of those unexpected problems you’ve encountered?
Two Unexpected problems/issues:
One:
Creating a line of Wearable Art for the National African American Museum that was ‘one of a kind items that sold out quickly but yeilded low compensation.
Two:
Family funds for a IBILE Artist Sanctuary dissipated due our naive consciousness to unchartered territory for a 1031 Exchange that did not happen.
Three:
Following a recommended course of action to secure a non profit status for IBILE Artist Sanctuary to attract recommended Foundations and funders that unrealized.
All experiences were devastating and took grieving then pivoting energy, understanding and direction

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
For me, it’s been a magical way to meet other creatives, make a difference as reiki healer through my art using culture, symbolism, nature and history.

What do you think is the goal or mission that drives your creative journey?
My goal/mission is to be a source of nurturing healing creativity for communities through residencies, installations, exhibitions, forums and artist sanctuary in my island setting of trees and water.
