Arianna , looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?

Starting my business was the most meaningful project I worked on. I started making jewelry as a hobby and a coping skill of mine to cope with my narcolepsy. I eventually legitimized my business because I wanted to spread more awareness about the effects of narcolepsy and share my art with anyone

Arianna , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?

My name is Arianna, I’m 24 years old and I am a crafter and an artist from West Virginia. I make one of a kind jewelry and accessories. I am a “ functional “ artist, where the art I create serves a purpose or is made into a product that is wearable. I make jewelry styles in many different aesthetics and styles. Some of the jewelry I make is also made from up-cycled jewelry as well.

Is there mission driving your creative journey?

My motto is “ always move forward, even if it is at a slower pace” this represents my business inspiration the sloth. Often times people with narcolepsy are associated with sloths because it is an excessive sleep disorder. This disorder is very debilitating and rare. Im working to spread awareness to help reach other people with sleep disorders to make them feel less alone

Can you share a story from your journey that illustrates your resilience?

Given that my brand is one of a kind and does not particularly fit in a certain category, it’s difficult to reach my audience. I don’t make consistent sales and sometimes I go months without a sale. However, I remind myself that this business was more for the love of making art and not necessarily for profit. I’m not as successful as other jewelry makers but I am happy with my brand.
