We recently connected with Arianna Jones and have shared our conversation below.

Hi Arianna, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to hear about a project that you’ve worked on that’s meant a lot to you.

I believe that one of the most important things in life is taking the time to explore and discover your passion. What is it that you love to do more than anything else? When you are truly passionate about something you feel a special sense of connection to it. You almost feel like you can’t live without it. For me, acting was never about becoming rich or famous. It is my passion. When I am acting, it just feels right. I have to do it. When you make the decision to do something for the wrong reasons, often times you eventually begin to feel miserable doing that thing. Your heart must be in it in order for it to last. Once you discover whatever it is that creates that spark and lights that fire within you, your entire life will change.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.

I am an actress. In addition to acting, I dance, write, and produce. I am also an activist. I am a member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (the NAACP), as well as Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. I enjoy exploring ways in which my passion for art and my passion for social action may intertwine. Art is very powerful. I intend to use my art to amplify the voices and tell the stories of those who feel silenced or unacknowledged.

Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative? Maybe you can provide some insight – you never know who might benefit from the enlightenment.

I believe that for the people on the outside looking in, it may be hard to understand what fuels my motivation and resilience. Pursuing your dreams is not always easy to do. We often feel discouraged when we put our all into something and don’t receive the results we hoped for. But what’s important is achieving the goal itself, not necessarily the speed in which you reach your destination. There is value in the journey and everything happens in due time. You must learn to trust the process.

What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?

The most amazing thing about creating, in my perspective, is knowing that what starts as a mere idea or concept in your mind or in your heart can evolve into something tangible that may even have the power to change the world. As an artist you have the ability to touch people in unimaginable ways.
