We recently connected with Arianna Fleischman and have shared our conversation below.
Arianna, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today It’s always helpful to hear about times when someone’s had to take a risk – how did they think through the decision, why did they take the risk, and what ended up happening. We’d love to hear about a risk you’ve taken.
Being a Performance Artist is always about taking a risk, a leap of faith, and trusting the process. I have changed career paths in the arts space many times, not necessarily jumping around, but trying to find where I fit correctly. I started as a Dancer, and still am, just in a different circumstance than I originally pursued. I always thought I would be a full-time professional dancer as a career, however, my world changed when I fell in love with Illusion and Magic! Let me explain… I started training in dance at the very young age of 4 years old. I adored it, and trained with a severe tenacity and drive until I was 18, which is the time most dancers start auditioning for jobs. I auditioned and trained with some of the best companies across the US, But I quickly grew anxious and tired of feeling unappreciated, unpaid, and well, put down for not fitting in. I then started pursuing modeling as a career. While it was a very fun job, I quickly realized that it might be better suited for me as a hobby, not a job. However, through all of this, I was offered to audition for a role as a Co-star to Randy Whelmarc in Magic and Models, A series of Live Illusion Shows and an Upcoming TV series. I now portray Christi Parfaite, who is a Ballerina! Working on Magic and Models ignited a passion in me for Magic and Illusion, and that has led me to further my knowledge in all aspects of the trade. All that being said, this whole process has been full of risks, and I am so immensely grateful to all of the people that have and continue to help and encourage me. I especially want to thank Randy Whelmarc for introducing me to the world of Magic, and for teaching and mentoring me.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
Hi! My name is Arianna, but I go mostly by Ari. I am 22 years old at the time of this interview, and I am a performance artist. Mostly within the Magic realm, but also in the dance realm, and acting as well! I am a Co-Star to Randy Whelmarc in Magic and Models, A Magician, Model, Dancer, and Actor, and I own a Jewelry Business, Juxtaposition Jewelry! The main thing I would like everyone to know about me is that I am extremely hard working, determined, and loyal in everything I do. While I have been quite fortunate to have the support of those that I hold dear to me, that doesn’t mean everything has and will be easy. There is a constant process of evaluation, evolvement, and pure blood, sweat, and tears that is required for every little thing you see.
In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
In my view, the best way that society can support artists and creatives is to go to live shows and performances! Not to go on social media and watch videos (although that does help us, the live performance support helps us so much more!). And trying to understand more that we artists work insanely hard, and that there is always more than meets the eye!
What do you find most rewarding about being a creative?
For me, the most rewarding aspect of being an artist/creative is looking out to the audience and seeing people be in awe, wonder, and amazement! And the joy that you are able to spread, especially through magic!
