We recently connected with Ariana Vandersnick and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Ariana thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. One of the most important things we can do as business owners is ensure that our customers feel appreciated. What’s something you’ve done or seen a business owner do to help a customer feel valued?
I think the best way to show appreciation is sincerity. With the busy, fast-paced nature of service in the coffee industry, slowing down enough to offer a moment of sincere gratitude and connection with customers is vital.
One of my teachers says, “People vote with their feet.”
And when customers walk in, or purchase online, I know the value of that.
We all crave some genuine connection, so it’s always my focus to lean into that.
Ariana, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
The complexity and challenges that come with coffee roasting, the people across the world we get to connect with, the stories we hear and then get to share are the reasons we started Daylily Coffee.
We curate select coffees from all over the globe, working with farmers and producers striving to maintain harmony with the earth.
Our expertise in roasting has been honed over 15+ combined years. Our philosophy is to let the plants, and the efforts of producers, shine.
Our coffee is always vibrant and bright, fruity and juicy. It’s special and we glad we get to share it.
How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
My partner and I have a hefty amount of experience under our respective proverbial belts, which never hurts to draw from. Yet I believe the core of what’s helped us develop our reputation is our authenticity.
We practice acting out of intention and dedication to our values, and that’s something that can be felt—even through a screen.
Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
We’ve taken our approach to growth organically, starting small in order to achieve the most sustainable growth possible. We’ve worked, saved, and invited investors into our team to help sustain that growth.
