We were lucky to catch up with Ariana Galante recently and have shared our conversation below.
Hi Ariana, thanks for joining us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
I decided to become a psychotherapist my junior year of college….I wanted to become someone that gave back to others in a way that’s sacred and meaningful….(i also wanted to be my own boss). Of course, the journey to get there is not an easy feat as I had to do a lot of grunge work to get to where I am now, & I still have a bit to go. I knew it was a worthwhile endeavor because I love what I do. I wanted to build upon my greatest strengths and implement it somewhere worthwhile.
Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers.
I got into this field because of my own lived experiences. I wish I had someone like myself when I was younger, but I heal those parts of me by being that person for others. I offer mental health counseling and I have had some of the same clients since I first began and graduated with my masters in 2020 (which was during COVID). They did not want to leave me and find value in our time together.
We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I have had multiple losses of loved ones since I was in 4th grade and my last being 3 years ago. I struggled with bereavement trauma and prolonged grief for a long time and throughout my own journey as a psychotherapist up until this point in time. I have to show up for others, live in many emotions spaces for periods of time, and abandon all I know of myself to sit in vulnerable spaces with others.
Learning and unlearning are both critical parts of growth – can you share a story of a time when you had to unlearn a lesson?
I had to unlearn being a victim to my own traumas and circumstances. Yea I was a victim, but to live there for long periods of time, in your own personal purgatory, is not feasible for anyone.
