We were lucky to catch up with Aria Rose recently and have shared our conversation below.
Alright, Aria thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Can you take us back in time to the first dollar you earned as a creative – how did it happen? What’s the story?
My first sale of a piece of art I created was when I was 8. My mom took me to this week long event Sculptors Wrestle Steel on Madeline Island; which consisted of welders from all over the area bringing their equipment for folks to use on this giant pile of scrap metal Tommy, of Tom’s Burnt Down Cafe, had collected across the street. I don’t think there were any other 8 year olds there but I had a blast welding flowers and using a plasma cutter to make welcome signs out of scraps of sheet metal. At the end we all had an art show where people could stop by to purchase things — and this was my first sale, I sold two Welcome signs for $15 each — a seemingly massive fortune to my 8 year old self.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My main job is a wedding and portrait photographer, and I focus on activity based sessions in order to capture sweet candid moments of my clients; be it an engagement session or family session. I love to plan sessions around what you adore; be it running around on the beach, making cookies with your four year old, or bar hopping for your engagement session. That is why I love wedding photography, as the day is packed full of sweet moments and interactions to capture candidly.
I also love pottery and print making, and you can find me at local craft fairs and art shows throughout the summer selling pottery, prints and paintings I’ve made.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My goal is to feed my own creative self, and create beauty others can enjoy.

What’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative in your experience?
I love the flexibility I have in my schedule. While I’m always crazy busy in the summer, I can pick and choose the hours I work, and maximize the time I spend with my son, Arlo (who’s now a year and a half). It may mean I’m staying up late editing your session, but I love being able to soak up time with him playing in the yard, and helping me in the garden while I can.
