Alright – so today we’ve got the honor of introducing you to Aria. We think you’ll enjoy our conversation, we’ve shared it below.
ARIA, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
The most meaningful project I’ve worked on is my new upcoming Album “PRINCESA URBANA”. This record means a lot to me because of the time and effort I put into it and how it showcases my growth in music production and songwriting. It took me almost two years to finally grasp what I really wanted to express as an artist and I feel that message is coming through clearer on this record. Some of the songs were started in my little home studio in Mexico before I decided to attend to a a Master’s program at Berklee NYC where I was able to explore new sounds and collaborate with people from different parts of the world. During this program I realized that I had a special project and concept that could bring all my songs together into a cohesive Album. “PRINCESA URBANA” is about taking your life experiences with a “princess” attitude. I’m not referring to the “princess” with a girlie attitude, instead referring to an independent, empowered woman, sassy, sensual and sensitive. I’m so excited to showcase this new project and see it connect with its true audience! “PRINCESA URBANA” out in 2025.

ARIA, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
My name is Frida Arias, also known as ARIA, and I was born on March 4th, 1999, in Mérida, Yucatan, Mexico. Growing up, I was always fascinated by singing, so my parents enrolled me in opera classes at an early age. When I was six, I began performing at weddings, and I kept studying opera and piano, despite my passion to sing pop. Growing up, I was obsessed with mainstream pop artists, such as Beyoncé, Britney Spears, Rihanna, and Belinda. As a kid, I would spend hours messing around with GarageBand, creating sounds just for fun. But it wasn’t until I was sixteen that I actually started creating my own songs.
When I began university, I met a few classmates who were producers, and that’s when I really got into making my own music. I spent hours in my room every day, writing and producing, striving to improve. In 2018, I released my first song alongside another artist, a very important moment in my career. I fell in love with the entire process of creating and releasing music—it felt so natural, as if I was right where I was supposed to be.
After graduation, I freelanced for a year as a songwriter and producer for other artists while working on my first full-length album, “AR1A (notas de un diario abandonado)”. Eventually, I decided to pursue a Master’s degree in Songwriting and Production at Berklee College of Music in New York City, allowing me to delve even further into my music. It allowed me to create another record which I’m extremely proud of; it’s by far the most exciting project I’ve worked on, and I’m thrilled to share it to the world.
For me, music is about fully immersing myself in every stage of the creative process. I’m involved in every aspect, from production to composition and mixing, since I’ve learnt to trust my own vision. I’m an artist that enjoys experimenting with diverse sounds, but I also want my music to feel honest and relevant. I include my personal experiences into my work allowing me to connect more deeply with those who listen. It’s the biggest gift I can give my audience: exposing my true self and knowing it connects with them.

For you, what’s the most rewarding aspect of being a creative?
For me as an artist my biggest reward is to be able to make music everyday and express my true self so my listeners can connect to what I’m saying and feel understood. Make my art theirs.

Have any books or other resources had a big impact on you?
I’ve always loved watching Documentaries and movies from great artists, I remember “8 mile” about Eminem’s life and “Homecoming: a film by Beyoncé” being one of the many films that really inspired me to pursue my dream of being an artist. Along with that, works such as “Turning Pro” by Steven Pressfield, Big “Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear” by Elizabeth Gilbert and “The Alchemist” by Paulo Coelho have had a huge influence on my journey.
