We were lucky to catch up with Ari Rozario recently and have shared our conversation below.
Ari, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. So, let’s imagine that you were advising someone who wanted to start something similar to you and they asked you what you would do differently in the startup-process knowing what you know now. How would you respond?
If I could start over with all of the knowledge I have now, I would tell myself don’t be scared to go all in with what you enjoy. Keep trying different things until your plan solid.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I am a visual artist, my name is Ari Rozario. I primarily paint on canvases, but I also create digital art. My art style would be described as abstract and symbolism. I have provided brand art as well as album artwork for musicians. I have had various speaking engagements to inspire youth. I have previously led after school art initiatives in Partnership with a Atlanta Secondary school. I am most proud of the relationships I have built through collaboration over the years. For any future clients or supporters I would like to share this, for me this is more than art. Art is very special and I like using it to create genuine conversations and ideas.
Can you tell us the story behind how you met your business partner?
I had my first solo art show last December in my hometown Memphis, TN. That actually came about because I met Steve Rone at Flip Side one night while playing pool with my sister. Steve was celebrating his wife and I was just hanging out. Somehow conversation started and never stopped. We eventually walked next door to a gallery that Steve’s son, Griffin, was operating. We exchanged contact information and things took off. We planned a really exciting art show.
What’s worked well for you in terms of a source for new clients?
The best way that I have met new clients was by passing out business cards and introducing myself. A random conversation can be the best start. One conversation could be standing between the next level of business.
