We caught up with the brilliant and insightful ArchxAngel . a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi ArchxAngel , thanks for joining us today. Can you open up about a risk you’ve taken – what it was like taking that risk, why you took the risk and how it turned out?
What would you lose to become all that you believe you are worthy to be?
On the journey, there are many risks with great rewards. There are losses with failures but what if you only had to lose just enough to take the risk to have it all? What if you lost but still got back up again? How many great risks achieved wins would eventually outweigh the losses?
Maybe we are not supposed to be perfect we just need to continue to find balance within ourselves our relationships and our businesses. There’s no question about the risks involved in certain business ventures like a music career but when you also have a passion for it even when you want to give up it’s not an option for you. It becomes your life, your creation, and your long-term investment.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
ArchxAngel all started with two independent artists with a similar dream in music. As young as ten, A Rich began making songs on his desktop and quickly realized that it was his calling. He continued to grow in his music leading him from South Carolina to Atlanta to work in some of Atlanta’s top recording studios, engineering and producing for big names Such as Keith Sweat and Pleasure P.
While working frequently at Tree Sound Studios he also met a singer and songwriter named Angel. Growing up in the suburbs of Atlanta, Angel has always had a voice, singing in choirs like Spivey Hall and performing frequently for the Spiritual Living Center of Atlanta, which lead her to Tree Sound Studios. They worked together there and eventually reconnected and started making music but this time refocusing on just themselves and the perfection of their upcoming album. Combining two individual names and sounds ArchxAngel is a fresh collaboration that you will want to watch out for. Listen to their first single ‘Gypsy Caravan’ now on all platforms.
What can society do to ensure an environment that’s helpful to artists and creatives?
The best thing that people in our society can do to support creatives is to allow them to create, allow them to step out of the “status quo” without constant backlash. I know for a lot of creative people who have chosen an entrepreneurial-based profession like entertainment, music, or art, in the beginning, are usually in a very vulnerable place. Many times the first people to put down their ideas are the closest people to them. Please, if you have a family member or friend who is in a creative field or is simply just an entrepreneur, don’t put them down or try to stomp out their ideas. Being creative means in the beginning it is a lot of trial and error. Success never happens overnight. The best thing you could do for that creative person is to show them understanding and confidence in their creations. It may take time for the fruits of their labor to become a harvest but if they are true creatives or entrepreneurs they will be successful.
Is there something you think non-creatives will struggle to understand about your journey as a creative?
Creativity involves breaking out of an established order to look at things differently. It takes risks to be creative because creative people go against the grain. Even in adversity, it is natural for them to believe in the uncreated because they are creators. We believe everyone has their way to expend their creative energy but when creativity has not been a normal pattern in your life it may be hard to understand. One thing we would say to a person who does not identify with being creative is to realize “Creativity is seeing what everyone else has seen, and thinking what no one else has thought.” – Albert Einstein
