We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Aqeel Hasan a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Aqeel, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today. We’d love to have you retell us the story behind how you came up with the idea for your business, I think our audience would really enjoy hearing the backstory.
In my sophomore year of undergraduate at Georgia Southern University, I worked on a chemistry project that involved magnets, superconductors, & liquid nitrogen. The experiment was designed to visually show how the repulsion energy you feel when you attempt to hold two magnets’ identically charged sides (i.e. + to +, or – to -) close together that it is a real source of energy by floating one magnet on top of the other. From the start, I was amazed at this experiment and its results. I knew immediately that if this energy could be harnessed it could change the world. Sadly, I just bottled that information & excitement inside and never attempted to explore it anymore, because I was too broke to dream that big.
I was already living a dream by being the first in my generation to be in college, with the possibilities of graduating and getting a good job. What I have learned from this experience is when chasing a dream, if you encounter a bigger dream on your path, do not be afraid to switch gears and add the bigger dream as your new goal. The journey is longer, but thrill of achieving it will be that much greater. Now your initial dream was just a stepping stone to prepare you for something greater.
It was almost 20 years later, before I truly took what I learned on that experiment and created a unique design to recreate, harness, and apply the magnetic repulsion energy to a tangible process.
Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
I am the owner of Hexagon Enterprise & Holdings, LLC (HEH). My company has two divisions, Multimedia & Science & Technology. HEH is the parent company of The Enterprise Theater TV Network that is a conglomerate of 24/7 broadcast channels available on Roku TVs, Roku devices, Apple, & Android smartphones, tablets, & computers. Please see previous interviews I have completed to obtain more information about The Enterprise Theater in my bio on Instagram @theenterprisetheater.
Today, I would like to discuss the Science & Technology division. According to Webster’s Dictionary, Nuclear Fusion is defined as a process in which the nuclei of two or more atoms are joined. With this joining, an energy release or absorption occurs. In plain terms, it is two atoms sharing the same space at the same time, but they are not chemically bonded together. For example, salt, sodium chloride (NaCl) is chemically bonded together.
Nuclear fusion is one of the most sought after energy sources in the world, because of its clean properties and immense energy potential. The problem is that it is incredibly unstable and hard to maintain the reaction over time. Currently, there are companies around the world racing to solve this problem, and now my company, Hexagon Enterprise & Holdings has joined the race. There is a ton of research on the web about how these other company’s approach to creating a sustainable nuclear fusion reactor is based on trying to recreate the heat of the sun on Earth. Yes, reread that.
The sun creates nuclear fusion reactions as part of its normal existence, which is why if they could recreate that amount of heat on Earth the reactions could be sustainable and humanity can move into a new era of clean energy. Nuclear Fusion is able to produce enough energy to power entire cities with less effort and waste in theory. Going back to what I learned sophomore year, I created a unique design for a nuclear fusion reactor that will produce enough energy to power a city and more. By design, it is also scalable and can be utilized to allow submarines to submerge deeper into the ocean than ever before without the fear of the ocean pressure crushing the vessel. I have copyrighted & submitted a patent for these designs and more.
I created this company to utilize it as a vessel to push innovation & creativity to the known limits & beyond. This is why the motto is “Discover Something New”. Whether that “New” thing is an improvement on existing technology or created out of thin air. Discover it, apply it, monetize on it, and share it with humanity.
Let’s talk about resilience next – do you have a story you can share with us?
Once I created my company, copyrighted my plans and designs, & submitted the patent application, I figured my next step should be to partner with an institution to scale out the ideas, discuss holes in the process, & collaborate with other scientific individuals on how to build my nuclear fusion reactor. I reached out to a number of professors & universities to start the conversation about the possibilities of sharing ideas. I either received no response back from multiple attempts or was told since I was not a current student at their institution, they were not interested.
Blame my naivete, because I was under the impression institutions wanted to partner with companies to bring in revenue and make an impact on the future. To be honest, I was really shocked and disheartened by this and had to stop and reevaluate, if I was going down the correct path. But, my faith in God would not allow me to quit. I believe God blessed me with the ability to be able to understand, design, execute, and apply these ideas. Which meant I would be defying Him, if I let others be an obstacle that stops me in path. So, I forged on.
Hexagon Enterprise & Holdings is the first blacked-owned entity on the planet that is in the race to build the first completely sustainable nuclear fusion reactor, while owning multiple live 24/7 channels under The Enterprise Theater brand. I have restructured HEH as a corporation to start allowing the purchasing of stocks in the company. The valuation of the company has been completed. Send an email to contact@
Are there any books, videos or other content that you feel have meaningfully impacted your thinking?
I have three degrees, a BS in Chemistry, a MBA, and a MS in Conflict Management & Dispute Resolution. While obtaining these degrees and since, I have read or listened to an audiobook of a ton of content about life, philosophy, science, management, & adventure. One of my most recent reads was The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee. He wrote a beautiful and tragic story about Cancer that started from its initial discover to where we are today. Two significantly impactful novels on my management style and the way I view creativity & individualism were written by Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged & The Fountainhead.
The Fountainhead can be used as a guide for creative individuals whose ideas go against the society norm & if you are headstrong and unwilling to compromise, you can see the potential results of those decisions. Atlas Shrugged is interesting, because it shows what happens, if people stop believing in science, innovation, and start completely sharing wealth from the top down, where people can no longer monetize on their individual knowledge, skills, & abilities. Oh and it answers the question “Who is John Galt?” Lol! The last book I will mention is something that I wish I had read in my teens/early twenties, The Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison.
This book was like a reassurance that made me feel that I have been on the right path in the way I conduct myself in business as a black man, and not letting my successes & failures define me or forget who I am or where I am from.
