We caught up with the brilliant and insightful Apryle Dalmacio a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Apryle, thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today What’s been the most meaningful project you’ve worked on?
My most meaningful project(s) have been releasing my original music. All my songs tell a story of my life and have expressed hard times, experiences of love, loss, and feelings of being human. I’ve written songs about being in love for the first time, being cheated on, regret of life decisions, and depression.

Apryle, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m a local Singer-Songwriter from Riverside, Calif. I’ve been performing for over 15 years sharing my originals and my renditions of covers at local markets, restaurants, wineries, resorts, small businesses, and private events around Southern California. Along the way, I’ve won awards for my original songs and recognition from grammy award-winning artists such as Chicago’s Peter Cetera, AC/DC, and Esperanza Spaulding (to name a few).
Since age 13, I’ve been working hard and booking gigs in hopes to buy a house. Even during Covid, I played 136 shows to pay my bills and to keep going. I never wanted to be famous, I just wanted to do what I loved for a living. Many people have tried to convince me to choose a different life and be something I wasn’t. Whether it was body image, career choices, marriage, or motherhood, I’ve made a lot of choices that weren’t my own, and I’ve lived in regret living for others for many years.
Today, I still have my “eyes on the prize” while searching through Zillow and playing over 200 shows a year. (Majority family-friendly and FREE, in which you can find on my website at www.apryledalmacio.com)
I know I am worthy of good things in my life, and good things are coming!
In honor of my new release, “To Be The One”, I’ve premiered a new Music Video on my YouTube Channel Sunday, March 26th at 12:00PM PST. Be sure to subscribe and click that like button!

We’d love to hear a story of resilience from your journey.
I’ve had to bounce back from difficult situations throughout my life. Most of these times have been me fighting to control my own life. I’ve been told to live a life not mine by many people; my parents, people I’ve dated, and the entertainment Industry. The hardest decisions to make are when you’re told to make decisions that you know aren’t you and they usually come from loved ones and people you trust. When those closest to you disapprove of your life choices, bouncing back from it without regret, remorse, or feeling of hate is the the real journey to the path of resilience.
That’s what my new single, “To Be The One” expresses. The music video shares even more details of my struggles and what I’ve had to overcome. You’ll have to watch the video on my YouTube channel to see the story.
We often hear about learning lessons – but just as important is unlearning lessons. Have you ever had to unlearn a lesson?
As a woman in the music industry, and as a woman in society, I’ve had to unlearn to trust others and make my own decisions. From being told how I should look to becoming a mother, I’ve had to overcome people controlling me. I’ve had to alter how to take advice and learn to identify what manipulation and control was. Society itself can manipulate a woman to look a certain way. Back in the day, it was magazines and television. Now, it’s social media and filters bombarded with ads.
Maybe with age and education I’ve learned to understand how others can control a person, but my experiences have helped me identify who I am and move on with how I want to live my life.
