We were lucky to catch up with April Smith recently and have shared our conversation below.

April, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. Risking taking is a huge part of most people’s story but too often society overlooks those risks and only focuses on where you are today. Can you talk to us about a risk you’ve taken – it could be a big risk or a small one – but walk us through the backstory.

Life is all about taking risks. It keeps us young and vile (from my own personal experiences). I’ve always wanted to create a space for helping to empower, enlighten, and encourage communities. Dancing is a passion and I express a lot through dancing. My passion for dance, for writing, for meditation, for mindfulness, and for inspiring others has led me to take one big risk and that is the opening of a space and creating a business called Evolistic Living, LLC.

There has always been this vision to create a warm, welcoming, loving, and safe space where people can come to connect, to relax, to heal, and to simply enjoy life. After relocating to Florida, I was not sure how life was going to look. My Mom passed in April of 2020. Shortly after (January 2021), my grandmother (my Mom’s mother) passed. And life became even more challenging. I did not know what to do next. I felt lost and alone. My world turned upside down in such a short period of time. And during those moments, time became of no concern for me. I resorted to depression, sleeping a lot, and just ignoring the world. I turned into a very private hermit and no longer became active in Life.

After returning to my healing (meditation, breath work, yoga practice, writing/journaling), I began to focus more on the beauty of love. And then I realized and remembered that love is key. We all need this pure love and we need each other. I kept hearing this message, and so I began the grieving stages of the passing of my Mom and Grandmother. And I increased my own personal practice of mediation and journaling.

Learning about herbs and crystals brought my passion for helping others back to life. And I felt the urge to help others learn about crystals; along with the powerful benefits of herbal teas. It was a life changing moment for me and I felt a soul mission to help heal the world. I put love in to creating herbal tea recipes and then sharing them with friends. My Dad even purchased some of my herbal tea creations and he believed in my vision for helping others to heal themselves.

EVOLISTIC LIVING grew from my own personal experiences with drinking herbal teas, creating mantras, practicing mindfulness, breath work, meditation, and using crystals as a tool to help with my healing journey. I began to connect with others in the local community and I learned about special events where I could become a vendor and share my products. People would ask if I have a store/shop and I would say not yet. I felt the desire to have a space for the community grow stronger. And I began looking around for spaces available for rent. I continued with vending at other events and meeting new people. It was amazing.

I found a space that was available and close to the beach. I love being close to the ocean, connected with Mother Nature’s creations. And I took a chance and just said, “You know what, go for it! Why not!” I was nervous as I was not familiar with the area. My partner and I just decided to jump and take this step of creating this space where we can begin to start the process of helping to heal in love, in peace, and through our own visions to bring love in to every decision made. And it was beautiful! I had a vision for how the space would look: paint with blue tranquil colors to give off the calming vibes like the ocean. It turned out to be completely different!

The color theme became green with hints of blue and brown earth tones. I remembered that my favorite chakra (energy center) is the heart. And the color that represents the heart chakra is green. I am a lover of life and a huge advocate for the energy of Love. So there you have it: the theme of love in this space. And when we redesigned this space, we put so much of our own love into it. I became so nervous that I hesitated in sharing this new space. And I wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out. And every time I enter this space, I feel so full of joy and love. And I told myself, “Sweetie you gotta share this with the community so you can carry out the soul mission to help heal others and to bring the world back to love.”

Social media accounts were created, we had our first event at the space and everyone just loved how they felt upon entering. We have classes available in person and online. And it is definitely a challenging venture: one that I take on with confidence and with love in my heart. I go back and forth and wonder if I made a good decision. And then I think about all the moments of feeling compassion for the world. I think about how so many of us need a comforting, loving space to release, to express, and to connect with their own souls, along with one another. This is why I made the decision to move forward with Evolistic Living and to create a space that will expand in to other spaces for the highest good of the world.

And here I am: putting my energy into this space and now getting the help of others to spread the word about this space that Evolistic Living, LLC offers. And I am grateful. I would not change my decision to take this leap into the unknown. Because I am confident that this leap is going to empower the collective, heal the world, and bring love to the center of it all. I give gratitude.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.

I am a LOL (Lover Of Life) and I enjoy to see everyone enjoying life. I love to read, learn new things, write, dance, go for walks, practice breath work, meditation, yoga, and mindfulness. My passion for living life simple, care free, peaceful, and full of love drives me to get up each day, express gratitude and just be present, flowing into presence. I am a spiritual being, here to nourish my soul and live to fulfill my soul mission.

I like to say I am a jack of all trades. I have created a MoonLight Mantras program that is a guided practice involving my own personalized mantras where participants are able to come relax, release, and retreat into a peaceful close of the day. I am a dance fitness instructor and I create choreography for Instructors. I am a Yoga Instructor and Meditation/Mindfulness guide.

I am a writer and have a few books I am working on to share with the world. You can call me a Soul Guide/Mentor because I enjoy helping souls to freely live this life journey with love, healing, peace, and joyfulness. I have learned about the benefits of herbs and how herbal teas provide so many nutritional positives for the body physically, mentally, and spiritually.

My company, Evolistic Living, has motivated me to live a more holistic healthier lifestyle. Evolving and learning has been the primary focus for my own personal life journey. As I learned more about herbal tea benefits, crystals for healing, and reiki healing, I’ve become more passionate about sharing these tools and benefits with others. And now these tools and benefits are incorporated into Evolistic Living.

Many of us are struggling, barely surviving, and living day to day hoping life will get better. This is NOT the way to live. This is NOT truly living. And I observe so many people that are in need of healing, of love, and of positive empowerment to do more than just survive. We were not put here to just survive and struggle, living paycheck to paycheck. We are meant for so much more. And I know we can do better, together, as one world community. We often rely on other systems and programs put in to place to help us just maintain survival mode. Yet we forget that we have more resources within one another that can help empower each one of us to live life abundantly. Our health is our wealth and our mind is a powerful tool to strengthen ourselves individually and collectively…

Evolistic Living was created to help heal the world. It’s that simple and there are no extras, no getting fancy with it. It’s just that. The words evolution and holistic were combined to create EVOLISTIC because this movement desires to empower the world to evolve consciously and live a more holistic healthier lifestyle. What do you think helped you build your reputation within your market?

Connecting in person with members of the community. We decided to reach out by attending different community events. And by being genuine in our approach with new connects within the community, we have build new relationships where people support our products and services because of the love and care we invest into our business. We do not look at this as just a business; because for us it is a movement to get the community more involved by assuring them that they matter and their contribution is so important to the cause we are passionate about.

We also became Vendors at various local events to sell our products and services, and most importantly to build new relationships with other vendors and prospective clients. This has helped our business tremendously by putting our name and our services out to the general public. The in-person connections are what helped us build our reputation within our market. And we are so grateful that we have the opportunities to go to many different community events to connect with others.
