We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April James a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
April, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Let’s talk legacy – what sort of legacy do you hope to build?
I hope generations from now everyone and their family members can remember me as a Mogul and the world’s greatest Actress. I want to make such a good influence on the world that people will want to follow in my footsteps.
April, before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
Well for starters, my name is April James or some known as AprilJai. I was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan. I started my business officially in 2020 but I’ve always had aspirations to be a business owner. I absolutely love beauty products so I felt it was only right to create my own beauty brand, which majority of my products are made by hand which is the heart of my brand. I make lip glosses, lip balms, body scrubs, etc. You can guarantee that all of my products are made from natural ingredients and for that I’m proud to not be causing any harm to anyone who may be allergic to certain things. I want everyone to feel comfortable shopping with me so the customer service is always top tier which is something I don’t play about lol. My business is fairly new still but one thing’s for certain it is only going to get better and expand from here. To continue on, I’m also an actress along with being an entrepreneur. Any advice for growing your clientele? What’s been most effective for you?
Honestly, just talk to people. Introduce yourself and explain what you sell and if they are interested then your locked in. Also, social media is a big part of promoting your brand/business make a schedule for yourself and come up with some good content. You will also need to have a business card to make sure people can remember you.
