We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April Harrington a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.

April, thanks for joining us, excited to have you contributing your stories and insights. Can you talk to us about serving the underserved.

It is so important to consider EVERYONE when we are creating generational wealth for our communities. There are so many underserved communities out there and it is our responsibility to make sure that the education, the resources and the support get to everyone on a level playing field. It is also our responsibility to ensure that we are reporting incidents where these people are being discriminated against or treated poorly. As the President of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance, I feel like it is my job to make sure our industry professionals are educated and seen as a safe place for ALL clients.

Great, appreciate you sharing that with us. Before we ask you to share more of your insights, can you take a moment to introduce yourself and how you got to where you are today to our readers

INTRO: I am April Harrington – Principal Broker/Owner of EXIT Real Estate Experts
I have a Bachelors in Business Management from MTSU, and have worked in my Management career for over 20 years now. I was in hospitality management for 7 years in Nashville working for great organizations such as Opryland Hotel, Downtown Big River Brewery, as well as being a part of the opening team for West Ends J Alexanders. I have another 7 years as an Operations Manager at FedEx with over 60 subordinates on a daily basis. I moved into Real Estate where I have owned and operated multiple franchises, created a small team of my own and made large strides in my future as well as the futures of my agents. My office now consists of 25 loving, and selfless agents who are ready, willing and able to make a difference in our communities and the lives we have the honor to serve.
I am married to a great man and we have a small farm, but no children. We love our downtime together to travel and be with our animals and friends. We work opposite schedules during the week however allowing me ample time to devote to my work and the causes that I serve. I have always wanted to serve our profession at a state and National level in order to be a part of the macro economics of our industry. I have done everything I can do on the micro-scale and I am looking to give back in a much bigger way. My fulfillment comes from our success as a whole and the value we can provide to our communities by providing value to one another within.

April Harrington has been across many International borders and lived in too many US states to count, but she always finds herself back in Nashville TN with great friends who support her & a city that she adores. Nashville has a certain diversity and charm that leaves it feeling like home to EVERYONE. Her passion for real estate has everything to do with her pride in Nashville, and her love for giving back to the communities she serves. She has a Bachelors in Business Management and spent 7 years in the hospitality industry, as well as 7 years in Logistics Management before diving into her Real Estate career in 2013. A Principal Broker and Firm Owner with many designations but the one she is most proud of is her CIPS. She takes great pride in her relationships with friends and family, locally & abroad and treats everyone as such. As an International Investor herself, she takes generational wealth very seriously and provides opportunities for ALL. She is the President of the LGBTQ+ Real Estate Alliance and even sits on the Professional Standards Committee for the state. She is eager, and works hard to make the world a smaller and kinder place.
Nashville is growing so fast and so wisely, it is something she is truly proud to be a part of.
Never meeting a stranger, her network has grown very strong and reliable in Real Estate over the years. She works closely with builders, contractors, inspectors, handymen, title agencies, and lenders in the area that are always willing to put her clients at the top of their lists. Before moving to Costa Rica to help own and operate her family’s property management and vacation home rentals business April always knew this is the industry she would end up in. Taking pleasure in making people’s dreams come true and watching them invest in their futures is what drives her every day.
When not working on her business or with clients, April enjoys spending time on her boat or at her micro-farm where she has 3 goats, 6 chickens, 2 cats, 5 dogs and a turtle. Her and her husband have a humbled heart in their home that spills over into everything that they do.

Any thoughts, advice, or strategies you can share for fostering brand loyalty?

My favorite way to keep in touch with clients is to send birthday and Christmas cards and stay an active part of their lives. My clients are my friends and my friends are my clients! Fostering brand loyalty is an easy thing to do by simply caring deeply about people. We are lucky enough to get to help people solve problems and build wealth, I don’t take that for granted for one second of a day.

Any advice for managing a team?

My advice would be to encourage everyone, always! We live in a crazy time with an ever changing market and set of challenges. Being real and honest are important and so is knowing you are a valued member of something greater than yourself. Tell your team members what they are doing well, celebrate with them and come alongside them if they are struggling. The smallest bit of light can make all the difference in the life and morale of your team.
