We recently connected with April Gladieux and have shared our conversation below.
April, looking forward to hearing all of your stories today. To kick things off, we’d love to hear about things you or your brand do that diverge from the industry standard
My company offers 7 different services to allow couples various options. We offer wedding planning, day of coordinators, ceiling/backdrop fabric/lighting, centerpiece rentals, furniture rentals, linens/napkins and luxury restroom trailers. This allows the couple to deal with one vendor compared to 7 different vendors on their wedding day. Also, our pricing is public to allow couples to see what we offer and the price range.

As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
My name is April Gladieux & I am the owner of Your Perfect Day. I started this company 15 years ago to offer a variety of services to couples. While I was planning my wedding, I was getting stressed having to deal with so many vendors, invoices and communication. My company allows couples to pick any services that they want and deal with only one person (me). I am proud to say that I now have 30+ workers and have worked over 1,000 weddings.
On the personal side, I am a mother of 2 (10 year old daughter & 12 year old son). I love to play & coach volleyball!
Fun fact: I played women’s professional football for the Toledo Spitfire and was MVP for 2 years!

Any stories or insights that might help us understand how you’ve built such a strong reputation?
Your first year of business should be about making relationship with people in your industry! Go to networking event, tour venues, shadow another wedding vendor at a wedding, find a mentor, etc. This will help you to get to know the people that you need to know and find out what worked (and didn’t work) for their company.

Do you have any insights you can share related to maintaining high team morale?
Managing 30+ workers is very time consuming. I have an Excel sheet that maintains all of our weddings and my workers can sign up for a wedding at anytime. But I also email everyone the 8-week out schedule every week just in case there are changes. This email allows my workers to communicate with each other and help out where ever is needed.
We do have a bonus program that when someone gets a 5-star review, they get an extra $50 in their paycheck.
