We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April Fisher a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
Hi April , thanks for joining us today. Can you talk to us about a project that’s meant a lot to you?
There were 2 music videos that I played a mom that would be the most meaningful projects I’ve worked on so far. Playing a mom is in my wheel house, I have 4 daughters that are my universe (Abbey 19, Payten 14 and identical twins Ella and Nora 12)
The first was for Jay Black – he lost his daughter to childhood cancer and did a tribute song / video to raise awareness, it was too difficult for him to play himself, so my husband and I were booked into the parent roles
Jay Black “Go Get My Angel” Official Music Video “Written by D. Warren”
I remember talking to Jay in the kitchen when we were on set getting ready to film the most emotional scene which is when I find out that my daughter has passed. I held onto that conversation until it it was time to film.
We did 8 takes until I ran out of tears, but I’m pretty sure we got it in the first one.
The second was for Corook, a very talented multi-faceted artist.
At first when I did my research I thought the video was going to be quirky and comedic, but once again it led me to a very emotional mom moment. Not gonna spoil it, go give it a watch, it’s beautifully done.

I’m proud of both of those music video and grateful to be part of someone else’s artistic journey.
April , before we move on to more of these sorts of questions, can you take some time to bring our readers up to speed on you and what you do?
I’m April Fisher I’ve always wanted to be in the Entertainment industry as a model / actor, since I was 12 years old (growing up I was obsessed with Jem and the Holograms and Debbie Gibson, fashion, movies and pop culture)
I spent 14 years teaching high school and college business classes (marketing, sports arts and entertainment, hospitality and tourism, etc…) in my hometown
My family left Pittsburgh PA in the beginning of the pandemic (April 2020) and relocated to Nashville TN to support our oldest daughter (she’s a singer / songwriter) and for opportunities!
Nashville is a town for creatives and dreamers, there’s lots happening here in Entertainment!
So I decided to get to work. I got with an agency, I took some acting classes and started to book.
I’ve done several music videos and been a brand ambassador / model / spokesperson for several brands including:
John Deere, Nissan, Big Machine Vodka, etc…
When a brand wants to work with me I bring my energy, and work hard to create the right vibe and message for the brand.
My commitment to learning the client’s brand and goals and life / career experiences sets me apart.
Having a background in Marketing and teaching the subjects I taught for all of those years allows me to understand the clients needs from multiple angles. I’ve been able to utilize all of those elements to demonstrate my versatility.
I am most proud of my family and the support we show one another in pursuing our individual goals.
I’ve also been very fortunate to work with very talented creatives and build projects collaboratively.

Is there a particular goal or mission driving your creative journey?
My mission is to demonstrate to my 4 daughters that they can do and be anything they want in life. My creative journey was delayed because I didn’t believe in myself and didn’t have the support I needed at a younger age.
I won’t allow that for them.
I’m 44 and just getting started!
I feel like I am finally moving in the direction I’ve always wanted to make my dreams a reality.

In your view, what can society to do to best support artists, creatives and a thriving creative ecosystem?
That’s a tough one, because creatives learn and express themselves differently. And when you go against the norm, people don’t like that because they fear change. Societal and educational systems are not set up to support artists, so the artist has to seek out where they think they can thrive. And that takes time, and growth and movement.
But none of that matters until the artist 100 percent lets go of caring about what other people think.
You just have to be yourself and that will lead you to where you belong.
