We caught up with the brilliant and insightful April Eskew a few weeks ago and have shared our conversation below.
April , thanks for taking the time to share your stories with us today Alright, so we’d love to hear about how you got your first client or customer. What’s the story?
Social media has played a huge role in growing my clientele. About two years ago I got my first client from Facebook. I originally posted pictures of a set that I did on my friend, just for jokes. However, others saw the potential that I had. From there, I began posting more, looking for others to share my talents with. About two years later, my clientele has grown tremendously.

Awesome – so before we get into the rest of our questions, can you briefly introduce yourself to our readers.
My businesses originate in the beauty industry. I own a 24/7 salon, where we specialize in lash extensions, brow services, body, sculpting and more. Separate from that. I also own a lash supply company, where I supply other fellow, lash techs quality, affordable lash products.
Originally, my plans were to go to medical school and become a pediatrician. Midway through nursing school, I found a new hobby, which was lashing. Being in the beauty industry for me, is not so much a job, it is more so a hobby.

How’d you build such a strong reputation within your market?
I think what helped build my clientele in this market is the quality of professionalism and remarkable service.

Can you talk to us about how your funded your business?
When I originally started my business, I was working an average 9-to-5 job, making $12.75 an hour. I funded everything for my business out of pocket, all the way from start up cost, to inventory, to marketing.
